Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Ghahramanyan.
Anna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
If you had asked me in college where I saw myself in 15 years, I would’ve told you practicing law or working on the Hill in international relations — confidently. I had just graduated from a top-tier university and was working at a well-respected law firm, checking the boxes I thought I needed to build a legal career.
But then life surprised me in the best way.
I stumbled upon an internship in the events industry, working with high-profile clients on experiences that were equal parts strategic and creative. From day one, I was hooked! The fast pace, the attention to detail, the opportunity to bring beautiful ideas to life — it all just fit. I realized I had not only found something I loved, but something I was naturally good at. That internship turned into a ten-year career that I poured my heart into. I climbed the ladder, took on new challenges, and had the chance to grow in ways I never could’ve planned. The events industry became my home.
Then came 2020. Like so many others in the industry, I had to hit pause. With the world shut down, I took a step back and focused on growing my family. I had two babies during that time, which was the most humbling and strengthening experience of my life. Motherhood gave me a deeper sense of courage and perseverance. It was during that pause, in the quiet moments between feedings and nap times, that a new dream started sprouting — one that had been sitting quietly in the back of my mind all along. I realized I was ready to build something of my own.
Starting my business has been the most rewarding leap I’ve ever taken. It’s the perfect intersection of everything I’ve learned: the structure and professionalism from my legal background, the creativity and execution from my events career, and the heart I’ve poured into growing my family. Now, I get to design with intention, serve clients in my own way, and build a brand that’s truly mine.
I didn’t follow the path I originally planned — and I’m so glad I didn’t.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any business owner — and especially as a mom of two littles — balance is one of the biggest challenges I face daily. Juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship is no small feat. I’m grateful to be able to have both of my toddlers in a preschool we absolutely love, but even with that support, it took some trial and error to find a rhythm that actually worked.
These days, I live by my calendar. Every hour is clearly defined, which has made a world of difference. I’ve learned that while new experiences has its place (especially for creating core memories with my family), what keeps our day-to-day running smoothly is structure. Toddlers thrive on routine, and honestly, so do I. Knowing exactly what each day holds helps me show up more fully for my business and for my kids.
Another challenge I’m currently navigating is growing my business as a team of one. Right now, I wear every hat — designer, client manager, operations, social media, you name it. While it can feel overwhelming at times, I actually love that this stage of growth is happening organically and steadily. I’m meticulous by nature, and I truly believe that building a strong foundation, even if it’s slower, sets you up for long-term success.
I also believe deeply that actions speak louder than words. I pour everything into my work, and I know that as more people experience it, more will be drawn to it. It’s a big dream of mine to eventually grow a full team — with dedicated hands for each stage of the process — and I’m taking intentional steps every day to make that dream a reality.
These challenges aren’t easy, but they’ve pushed me to become more disciplined, more creative, and more grounded in my purpose. And at the end of the day, there’s something incredibly rewarding about building a business that’s fully aligned with who you are — not just as a designer or entrepreneur, but as a whole person.
As you know, we’re big fans of Rue Paperie. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
When I launched my business, I knew I wanted it to be more than just pretty paper. I wanted to create an experience — one rooted in storytelling, high-touch service, and timeless design.
Today, I specialize in custom-designed and hand-assembled invitation suites, stationery, event branding, and signage. My design style is best described as timeless and elegant — known for its understated luxury. Every piece I create is tailored to the client’s story, capturing their personality, vision, and style with meticulous attention to detail and care. I offer all luxury print methods from letterpress to foil stamping and embossing, and provide a truly white-glove experience. I handle everything from the initial design to the final step of mailing the invitation suites directly to guests. My clients trust me not only with the creative side of their event, but with the logistics too, and I take that trust seriously.
What truly sets my business apart is the combination of my background, my process, and my passion. With years in the events industry, a top-tier education, and a deeply ingrained work ethic, I approach each project with both professionalism and heart. I bring a level of polish and understanding that only comes from real, hands-on experience. My inspiration is also deeply personal. I’ve traveled extensively (and can’t wait to do more of it once the kids are older), and that global perspective shapes how I see design — from color palettes and patterns to cultural traditions. I have a strong eye for composition and an intuitive sense for aesthetics that, fun fact, might even be helped by the fact that I’m left-handed. It’s something I’ve always embraced as part of my creative identity.
But what I’m most proud of is how much my brand reflects who I am and what I believe in. I built this business on values that matter to me: hard work, intentional design, and genuine connection. I’m no longer tied to a corporate system where efficiency is lost in bureaucracy or creativity is diluted by red tape. Instead, I work one-on-one with clients to deliver something meaningful — something that reflects their story, told through beautiful, thoughtful design, brought to life by a professional who truly cares.
This is more than just my work. It’s my passion, my calling, and my way of bringing a little more beauty, intention, and elegance into the world, one design at a time.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
In many ways, my journey is a reflection of the American dream — one that’s still unfolding, step by step. My mom and I immigrated to the States when I was just six years old, and we planted our roots right here in Los Angeles. This city raised me, shaped me, and gave me the opportunity to dream big. While I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world, and serve clients from everywhere, LA will always be home. It’s where I found my voice, my passion, and now, where I’m building a business that feels like a true extension of everything I’ve worked for.
I don’t take any of it for granted. Every piece I design, every client I serve, and every small milestone I reach is a reminder of how far I’ve come — and how much further I’m excited to go.
