Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Bäck.
Anna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story begins on a small family farm, in the woods of Sweden. Both my evolution into an acupuncturist and my basis for becoming an entrepreneur comes from that environment.
I grew up surrounded by lots of intense nature, but very few people. My time as a child was mostly spent in the woods, alone, playing and trying to find wild animals and such games. I think all this alone time in nature made into a very contemplative person and my experiences are still colored by the meditative practice that I developed. I had many exciting adventures and I also had many “awakening” experiences.
My family operated an organic blackcurrant farm, and we also had a honey business. Reverence for living creatures big and small was the only way I was shown, even the honey bees were adored and plant based medicine was just a natural part of living and all foods were grown or harvested and treated with love.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road, but the strength that I gained from those struggles is irreplaceable, not to mention the empathy that I can offer to people for exactly the reason that I actually relate to many who are struggling with emotional trauma PTSD. Struggles can be a great connecting point with people, if you allow it to be
I became a widow at age 31 and blindsided by the sudden loss, I fell into a deep grief that took me several years to process. I was an emotional train wreck, My low emotional state, unfortunately, led me to my next relationship, a very abusive one, now, in a domestic violence situation and a new baby, I was brought to a complete rock bottom in my life. I had to get help from a women’s shelter for my family’s basic safety. I was at that time midway through my acupuncture education. Every day was terrifying, never knowing what we would come home to.
I recently saw a quote: “you either get bitter or you get better”. I had to make a decision, to either grow and expand and blossom or to wither and die. I chose growth.
The strength that I have gained in the process of healing and protecting myself, creating boundaries, allowing myself to feel joy again and to go for my dreams was exactly what I needed. I have always considered myself non-judgemental, but not judging myself proved to be harder.
The bumps in the road have taught me deeply about self-love self-compassion, and the spiritual aspects of healing. We are all human, and most of us judge ourselves very harshly, I try to show the way for that self-judgment to turn around into hope and into self-compassion and self-love. I am most proud of my capacity for unconditional love and unconditional safe space. To our very core, we are wellness, the key is to find that core.
Please tell us about Anna Bäck Acupuncture.
While most of my practice consists of pain management, because that is why most people seek out acupuncture, I also treat fertility and make visits to fertility clinics when my clients have embryo transfers scheduled.
I visit inpatient clinics for physical rehabilitation after strokes and injuries, I freelance as a group facilitator at chemical dependency and detox clinics.
Clients describe me as peaceful, warm and empathic. I feel most accomplished when I can maintain an open mind, and hold a solid positive emotional space no matter what experience someone needs to open up about.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I think that what I have done and how I have done is perfect for me because all the lessons that I have learned, I needed to learn! 😉
I think that is true for all people when we are ready, the lesson is there waiting and then, when we are ready, we grow! 🙂
