Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann-Sophie / Miguel Hantzsche / Oehling.
Hi Ann-Sophie / Miguel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We’re Miguel and Ann-Sophie, the husband-and-wife duo behind Santa Brisa. Our story begins with a shared love for creating strong connections, sharing stories, and celebrating life — a philosophy we fell in love with during our past five years living in Mexico. The passion, generosity, and joy of Mexican culture left a deep mark on us, and it’s something we carry in everything we do.
We come from different professional worlds: Miguel has a background in tech entrepreneurship across Latin America and is a musician and entrepreneur at heart. Ann-Sophie built her career in the fashion world, working for luxury brands (Chanel, Louis Vuitton) before moving into the independent fashion scene (Mykita, aeyde, audette). Although the beverage industry is new for both of us, what drives us is the same, the desire to build something personal, meaningful, and that feels authentic to us.
With Miguel being Spanish and Ann-Sophie French-German, and after living together in various countries including cities such as Berlin, Mexico City, and now Los Angeles, our story is international – but the spirit of Mexico has deeply shaped our tastes, our vision, and our way of living.
One of the moments that inspired Santa Brisa’s identity happened in Acapulco, at La Quebrada. We wanted to go back to the origins of the Margarita, with the golden age of Acapulco in the 1960s, when margaritas became famous and a symbol of celebration, and connection. Back then, the margarita was not just a drink, it was a way to bring people together.
We wanted to go back to that original spirit — in the way it was enjoyed, in its lifestyle, and in how it was made. Today, margaritas are often poorly made or filled with artificial ingredients, far away from the cocktail we loved.
That’s when we decided to partner with some of the best mixologists in Mexico City — including a talented cocktail maker behind Michelin-starred restaurants — to create Santa Brisa. Together, we traveled across the country to source the best ingredients, from sweet oranges from Yucatán to real fresh limes and 100% blue agave tequila.
At the heart of everything, the product is our star. We simply see ourselves as storytellers, sharing the magic of a great Margarita, and we hope that with Santa Brisa, we can help create unforgettable moments to be shared with the people you love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entering a new industry was a challenge in itself. Coming from tech and fashion, we had to quickly learn the complexities of beverage production, regulations, logistics, and distribution. Every step has been, and still is, a new lesson. It’s also a highly competitive industry, dominated by big players and large groups, while we are a family-owned business.
Another big challenge was creating a product that met our own standards. We didn’t want Santa Brisa to be “just another” ready-to-drink cocktail. We spent over a year working side by side with some of Mexico’s best mixologists, adjusting recipes, sourcing the right ingredients, and refining every detail to make sure it honored the margarita we love, and we still refine it today. It requires a lot of patience, and many rounds of trial and error before we finally found the balance we were proud of.
As founders, and as a married couple, building a business together also meant finding a new balance between our personal and professional lives. We’ve been together for almost 10 years, so we know each other very well and trust each other. But starting a company together is a different kind of challenge: it meant getting to know each other in a new professional way.
The beauty of it is that we believe, and we know, that together we can create something special and both bring our vision into the business. To protect our relationship and strengthen our company, we also made a conscious choice to split our areas: Miguel leads operations and growth strategy, making sure we expand smartly without ever compromising quality. Ann-Sophie drives the brand, marketing, and creative vision, ensuring Santa Brisa reflects who we are and what we believe in.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Behind Santa Brisa de la Quebrada, as with any meaningful brand, there are people—and those people have a story to tell.
What we’re building isn’t just a drink; it’s an expression of who we are. A lifestyle. The brand evolves with us, because it reflects our journey.
At its core, Santa Brisa is a bridge between cultures, a mix of shared tastes, values, and experiences. We both come from mixed backgrounds and have lived in many places, surrounded by people from all walks of life.
We’re also entrepreneurs. We’ve spent the past few years building companies or joining them at their earliest stages. But this time it’s different, Santa Brisa is only ours and that’s what makes it so personal.
We’re both very social and love bringing people together. We enjoy watching different worlds collide, especially when it’s unexpected or even funny. For us, staying curious, open, and kind is essential. When you live like that, you’re always learning. And we wanted Santa Brisa to reflect that too.
Every detail matters to us. We’re proud that we’re being consistent, in never settling, and in holding ourselves to high standards.
Honestly, Santa Brisa wouldn’t exist without all the incredible people we’ve met along the way, those who inspired us, shared their culture, craft, and heritage with us. Especially Mexico… Now, we want to share that feeling with the world.
As for the drink itself:
Our mission is simple: to offer a ready-to-drink margarita that tastes as fresh, real, and special as if you just ordered it at the best bar in Mexico City.
Now, our challenge is to build a community, one that’s open, diverse, curious, and grounded in a deep appreciation for different cultures. That often starts at a table, a party, or an event. We want to be that bridge, and make it fun!
Our dream is to create a community of people who inspire and support each other. And of course, we want more people to try the product. We’re still a young brand, and getting it into people’s hands takes time, dedication, and a lot of love. But we believe Santa Brisa speaks for itself, and we hope people feel the care that went into every bottle.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is the importance of never giving up, staying consistent, and staying positive and having fun along the way.
Building something from the ground up challenges you every single day. Some days are harder than others, but it’s also an incredible opportunity: you get to explore so many different areas, learn new things, and connect with talented people across different industries. Especially with our product, we have the opportunity to bridge worlds, from gastronomy to art, music, hospitality, there is no limit.
