Meet Ankit Sharma of Inventive Byte in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ankit Sharma.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ankit. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was in college, I had an app idea that I wanted to develop. I felt like the app solved a real need in the world and people would find true value from it. However, once I started down this journey, I discovered that getting your app developed is a very complicated ordeal. The biggest obstacle was that it is very expensive and generally out of most people’s budgets to hire a firm. At that point, I wasn’t extremely technical either, so it would have been difficult for me to have built it myself.

From this initial journey, I realized that the bigger problem is in helping other entrepreneurs get started. So many groundbreaking ideas were not making it to the market because of this initial issue. I spent the next year becoming highly technical and started seeking others that were facing a similar challenge that I had. After attending a few startup fairs, I met a list of individuals who needed help. And that’s how I got started developing software for others and eventually grew out my team to even provide further startup services like digital marketing, fundraising, and mentoring.

Has it been a smooth road?
Running a business is never a smooth journey and there are always road bumps that you don’t expect on the way. I would only advise those individuals that are truly passionate about their business to get started because it requires a lot of patience, hard work, and dedication to succeed.

One of my biggest challenges initially was in finding the right people to hire. It took me some time to understand what to look for when hiring and how to determine individuals who were equally motivated, skillful, and reliable. I wanted to build a family-like company culture. The individuals on my team have now been with me for years.

Working with clients can also be tough sometimes because they may not make payments on time or have unimaginable expectations. It is important to be picky with who you work with so that you can create long-term business relationships and both parties find value from working with one another.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Inventive Byte is a startup venture studio. Most people have probably never heard of that term, so what that essentially means is we provide small to medium-sized businesses with all the tools they need to grow. That could be software development, sales, marketing, fundraising, etc. We are the 360-degree partner to help facilitate each part of your business so that you can focus on your core specialty.

Our clientele are generally innovators who are building products to make a real difference in the world. And we are known for helping them do that by offering all the back-end support.

Besides being highly ranked on Clutch and part of the Forbes Tech Council, what we are personally most proud of is the fact that we donate 20% of our revenue annually to support healthcare in underprivileged regions throughout the world. It makes our work even more meaningful.

What sets us apart from the competition is that generally once we have started working with you, you will probably want to work with us forever. Most of our clients have stuck with us from the beginning because of how successful we have been in our performance and because of our unbeatable prices.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely believe that Los Angeles is a growing startup hub and one of the best places to launch a tech startup. There is great diversity, talent, and atmosphere to make it the perfect place to start a business. The Santa Monica area has become more and more famous around the world for being a great place to start a company, even being coined as Silicon Beach. Besides that, top educational institutions like USC, my alma mater, have done a great job in facilitating a huge entrepreneurial ecosystem. The mayor has also created policy to further encourage entrepreneurship. LA is a great place to be right now and I think it is doing a great job in helping businesses flourish.
