Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Nguyen.
Hi Angie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My start as a wedding planner began in 2020 but my love for weddings goes back to when I was a little girl. I have always been fascinated by weddings, dreaming about what mine would look like someday and rewinding the VHS tape of my parents’ 12+ hour wedding day over and over again. It was no surprise to me that post college, I decided to try to get my foot in the door of the wedding industry even though it was a very interesting time for events due to the pandemic. I started out as an intern for a wedding planning company in my area and quickly began planning my own events. During my time as a wedding planner, I have watched the industry change immensely. What started as micro-weddings and elopements has now grown back into grandiose large scale weddings. But at the end of the day, my mission in weddings has always been designing an event that tells a personal love story and is welcoming for my couples and their loved ones because a wedding is about the love that is shared among all the people who attend.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Navigating the wedding industry in these past couple years has been interesting to say the least! Like I said, I started right at the beginning of the pandemic which meant your standard weddings were not allowed for the time being and couples were pivoting their wedding plans to fit the current health regulations. At that time, the company that I worked with was working with couples to find solutions for their cancelled events. Having to navigate the complexities of disappointed couples, the logistics of a new event, and working to create a new plan that would be something our couples were excited about was no easy feat. During this time, I found micro weddings and elopements to be extremely popular choices for couples getting married. As things have settled and become more “normal”, we have noticed the trends flipping and becoming the opposite of what it was when I first entered the industry. Couples are now leaning towards the more luxurious, large-scale events that they were not able to have a few years prior. Learning to accommodate to a fast-paced, ever changing industry was very new to me but something that I have grown to love and appreciate! Wedding trends are changing every year but have proven to be cyclical, which means all trends come back around. As a wedding professional and creative, it is important to not focus on the trends but instead challenge myself creatively and constantly think outside of the box to best serve my couples.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding planner and wedding content creator. I pride myself in taking notice in all of the little details of my couples’ big days and finding the importance of the in between moments. At first glance, a wedding is a multi-layered event with many moving parts and strict timelines. But, from my perspective, it is a once in a lifetime event where you will be in a room with all of your friends and family for one of the only times in your life. That is what is worth celebrating and capturing. As a wedding planner, I like to incorporate details that are significant to my couples’ love stories and make their event authentic to them. In order to come up with these details, I really like to get to know my couples. The wedding planning process is so intimate and clients put so much trust in vendors to help take care of their wedding day, it is very important to me to not take this for granted and recognize how honored I should be in handling such an important chapter of their lives. The same goes for wedding content creation. I recently added this to my services in 2023 and have found an even deeper appreciation for the little moments that happen on a wedding day. As a wedding content creator, I capture unedited, behind the scenes moments on iPhone that are delivered to my couples within 24 hours after their wedding day. This allows them to relive intimate moments instantly and be able to easily share content with their friends and family. As a wedding content creator, I’m there to anticipate moments and capture heirloom memories that become a keepsake for my couples.
