Meet Angela Chang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Chang.

Angela Chang

Hi Angela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised out of a town called Scarsdale, NY, but I always felt like LA was where my heart was – I went with my gut, and in 2019, I hopped on a plane to LAX with a dream and a cardigan, and I’ve been here ever since. I work in Tech as a software engineer, so I definitely have a nerdy side to me, but I’ve always wanted to pursue my creative and artistic side. Modeling to me is my creative and artistic expression, yet I also approach it with a mindset of a scientist. My goal is to create my own brand combining fashion and AI and produce my own shows someday.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a spiritual journey for me, I had to let go of toxicity in my life and find myself again. Before I moved to LA, I spent a year in NYC after college on my own, and that was definitely a difficult time where I felt my life was unfulfilled, and LA kept calling me. More recently, I have become more spiritual, embracing my divine feminine energy as well as a sense of oneness with the universe or the matrix.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a Software Engineer, to be specific my role is frontend, so I specialize in apps and the building blocks in apps along with automation. I work for an AI company based in London. I think my edginess and my combination of a creative and engineering mindset is my competitive advantage. I also love to collaborate and meeting and working with different types of people of all backgrounds, whether it be tech or business or artists/designers/models/actors. I’m a Gemini, so I’m a bit of a chameleon, meaning I can adapt to situations and get a feel of the vibe of the group. I also love to take on leadership roles and ideate. I think I definitely have an innovative mindset; I come up with my best ideas on my runs or in the show and me and my friends love to envision scenarios for new products we can invent or companies we can create to improve our world.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
COVID-19 has taught me to thrive in chaos, and also solitude is very important for personal development. During Covid, I fasted for up to 5 days to completely my mind and body, and it gave me the necessary time to reflect on my life so far, my lessons learned, and my life my purpose. That sense of sensory deprivation and solitude was crucial for the person I have become today.
