Meet Angel Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Rivera.

Hi Angel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in Tampa, Florida, where I was born and raised. Growing up, I always made my own short films, I started out recording them on 8mm tapes on my camcorder and as the years went on, I also picked up digital art and photography. I’ve been living on the west coast for about three years now and have coordinated photographers for fashion week, am currently the visual communications director for Jason of Beverly Hills and have had the opportunity to shoot for Drake, ASAP Rocky, and the Lakers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has certainly been struggles along the way. Moving across the country by myself and starting over in a new city was no easy task. I’ve also felt those feelings of imposter syndrome heavily over the last few years, but once I started realizing that almost everyone is feeling the same thing- that was a game-changer for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in shooting on 35mm and 120 film. I typically like to shoot with musicians and for brands in the fashion world. One of my proudest moments was just a month ago, seeing my photo printed at a large scale and on display in Beverly Hills. I was so overwhelmed seeing it for the first time – I swear I stood in front of it for an hour.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Clubhouse is an app that I’ve really been hooked on. Connecting with other creatives on there has been a lot more helpful than I expected it to be. It’s also really helping me to overcome my social anxiety and fear of speaking in front of people.
