Angel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Before at first sight came to be, my husband and I were trying to start a family.
After about two months we went to visit my OB here at the Los Alamitos Medical Center and boy did we get a big surprise: not only were we pregnant but with twins! Neither of us had a clue that we could be so lucky. At the twenty week mark, she gave us the go ahead to get a look as to whether we were going to have girls, boys or a combo.
Excitedly I asked her where the closest 3D/4D Ultrasound Studio was. Of course, I could have learned my babies’ genders at the medical ultrasound office but what fun would that be? I wanted to see their faces, their fingers and toes! I wanted to EXPERIENCE LIFE BEFORE BIRTH. Unfortunately, there are no 3D/4D studios here in Los Alamitos.
Once I saw our girls, I knew I would want to see them as much as possible because May, our due date, was too far away. It was after the second visit that we realized how lucky we were to be able to experience the miracles within me. We wanted to share that same experience with others. Our community, while being so close to several medical facilities and great hospitals, didn’t have anything that allowed expectant mothers to meet their own little miracles.
Being as I was fresh from my own excitement of becoming a mother, I knew that there must be other moms in our area who had the same need with no convenient place to go.
I knew how I wanted to feel during my experiences. I wanted the perfect sanctuary! AFS became more than just a concept. It became my mission. We bring you an opportunity to meet your miracle in an environment that specializes in YOU and how loved, cherished and adored you are.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business startup has had many struggles. I’m new to the game and getting our name out there has proven to be a bit of a struggle. Then came another surprise: I became pregnant again. This one came with complications in the beginning leaving me to take it easy more. Having no one to look after my girls and being pregnant has made marketing difficult.
Please tell us about At First Sight Imaging.
At First Sight Imaging is a 3D/4D studio that specializes in Prenatal Photography. We want you to enjoy your experience of Life before Birth without feeling like you’re being rushed and with more privacy than a mall curtain. It’s a spa-like experience that caters to making sure expectant moms feel loved, cherished, and adored. We’re known for our soothing and most comfortable viewing room complete with Temperpedic adjustable massage bed and warm ambience. We cater to all five senses while you’re with us.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory has to be when I first became a babysitter at age 13. I took CPR classes and was the youngest one there. My next door neighbor was my first client and she had told me if I could get certified she would let me watch her 3 month old son. I had been at their house many times and she watched how I handled her precious little man. She put her trust in me and that meant a great deal. That first night I babysat for 4 hours and we had so much fun (for a 3-month-old and 13-year-old to have). I knew I would never be a TV babysitter so I started dancing with him. I created a bond with him and he loved listening to music. I knew then that whatever I did in life needed to including taking care of children and helping moms.
