Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Amor-Smart.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was always the kid in the kitchen wanting to know how things were made—watching, trying to help, and most importantly having dibs on being the taste tester! My late Auntie Pam was my favorite baker growing up and she is the inspiration behind a lot of the things I bake today.
Baking became my stress reliever, then it became my hobby. After my first child was born in 2010, I created a menu of all my favorite types of Bundt cakes and said if I ever opened a restaurant that would be the only type of desserts we sold. Years passed, I moved, changed goals, tried different things. Randomly, in 2018 I ended up finding my original menu in a box, took that as a sign, and decided to go for it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
2018 was smooth and I was off to a great start. My husband and I found out that we were expecting. However, due to a serious condition during my pregnancy called Hyperemesis, I was constantly hospitalized and unable to bake. After the birth of our daughter, Nahla, with the support of family and close friends, I was able to get back on track.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about BossyBundts – what should we know?
BossyBundts is a bakery and catering company that specializes in Bundt cakes of all shapes and sizes. Bundts have always been a family favorite–it is all about the flavor and less the aesthetics. We also make cookies, cobblers, pies and more.
We are known for our Strawberry Crunch Mini Bundts and Peach Cobbler.
As a company, we are most proud of being able to provide desserts to our customers with recipes my family has created but never shared in this way.
We have friends who also have baking or dessert companies as well. We don’t try to compare or compete with them at all. We believe there’s room for everyone. We pride ourselves on being consistent and just keeping our customers happy.
