Meet Andy Thrift of Andy Thrift Home Improvement in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Thrift.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I love building houses – Especially Kitchens & Bathrooms!!

I got an apprenticeship with a British carpenter for a growing construction company. 2 things then happened:

First, I learned all the basics and was offered my first regular full time job in the industry and two, my passion for construction and home remodeling grew into what would become a lifelong career and later my own business.

I started supervising and running jobs within the company and found that I had a knack for dealing with clients. Just as things were going very well with this company there was a huge economic downfall in 2004 that caused the company to go under and shutdown. It was time to sink or swim. I decided to swim and go out on my own. This is when Andy Thrift Home Improvement was created. I started enlisting family members to work with me. So, with a lot of hard work, dedication and opportunity the rest has been history.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
GROWING PAINS!!! There has been some ups and downs. The good news was the company grew during the recession, and we were able to build this company during this harsh time for everyone. One of our biggest challenges is bidding fairly with so many large companies and small unlicensed companies until we found our niche and built our customer base. Now with the upturn in the economy, we are thankfully so very busy that we are trying to find the correct balance with scheduling and personal lives.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Andy Thrift Home Improvement – what should we know?
