Andreya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started when I stopped going to class while majoring in Criminal Justice and choosing to do makeup instead. That’s when I knew I had a passion for beauty. I would play in makeup for hours. I ended up dropping out, went to makeup school, & got a job at a makeup counter, hated it! I freelanced while working corporate jobs. Then my last corporate job laid everyone off and the state paid for me to go to esthetician school through their unemployment training program. That is how DreyaGotHands was born!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
HELL NO! Wait can I curse? Lol, Starting off was hard! I didn’t even think I was gone make it through school Chile! I balled when I got my license! Trying to find your area of expertise, applying for jobs that will help you grow in your field, working for other companies that don’t care about their employees, COVID shutting us the hell down for months! Deciding when to step out on faith and go out fully on your own! Learning how to run a business, learning when to fire clients, keeping up with self-care. The list is long! But I cannot complain!
We’ve been impressed with Dreya Got Hands LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Andreya Simone. Most people call me Dreya. I like to say I’m just your local “homegirl” who doubles as your favorite esthetician. Why do I “Have Hands?” I am a California Licensed Esthetician specializing in sugaring hair removal & various skincare services. I carry over five years of experience in the beauty industry. I aim to provide you with best service and a unique beauty experience! My favorite part about my business is seeing how my services can enhance someone’s mood as well as activate their inner beauty! I make my own aftercare products that I sell online and at the studio. My unicorn glow oil serves as a moisturizer that helps fight hyperpigmentation and ingrown hairs and inflammation. I use it on my entire body! I would like to let the readers know that my most popular service is sugaring. Sugaring is ancient Egyptian method to hair removal. Its benefits are limitless, it’s a heatless method that removes the hair in the opposite direction of the hair growth and also exfoliates off dead skin cells in the process. My favorite part about sugaring is seeing the after masterpiece, it’s so satisfying seeing how smooth my client’s skin is after getting every single hair SNATCHED! I think everyone should try sugaring at least once in their life because it’s truly life-changing. #droptherazorsis
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I would definitely say I’m a risk tasker! You have to dive into life to get to where you want to be! Esthetics is not a traditional field, not a lot of people know what an esthetician is. My biggest risk was deciding that this was my career! My parents were very, very, very skeptical about this career choice. My dad still wants me to go back to school and finish my degree! I know there’s a vision for me and not everybody has to see it! I’m okay with that! I feel like everyone has to take some type of risk in order to be successful, nobody knows something will work until they try it out! With taking risks, you also have to know that mistakes do not mean failure! You use what you learned and charge it to the game and keep going!
