Meet Andres Aparicio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Aparicio.

Andres Aparicio

Hi Andres, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started playing the violin at 8, the double bass and guitar at 12, performed in Local Jazz bands and Orchestras throughout Jr. High and High School, and have finally landed into my current lifestyle of being a vagabond (Exactly what my parents were hoping for…)

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s 100% been a journey. I was playing in an unaccessible “Progressive Rock” band right out of High School, and that was where I learned the value of touring. I was playing to anyone and everyone in any city that I possibly could to gain any new followers. Around the age of 22, I started to realize that I was actually participating in the “Entertainment” industry, and I really needed to reevaluate what exactly was entertaining about my act before aimlessly playing shows for uninterested listeners. I started to invest more money into the production of the music itself, started recruiting better musicians to play with live, and most importantly, made sure to be entertaining in my music videos/online promotions. I’m 30 now and have been touring under this project for 7 years. There has been nothing but more struggles and political hurtles to jump since then(haha).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter who self-releases original music and tours about 3 or 4 months out of the year. I’ve been cultivating a fan base in the progressive rock scene, but I think I’ve become more well-known in that community for making whatever music I want and wearing outfits I see fit. I have a rap song/music video where I’m in full zombie make-up, and I also have a music video where I’m performing salsa-esque music while portraying an unhinged groom. I was a theatre kid in high school, so I was prepared for this. I’m most proud of being an independent artist for the last 7 years and building up a following that has granted me some opportunities to open up for some of my favorite artists. Recently, I opened up for Geoff Rickly (Thursday), Anthony Green (Circa Survive), and Craig Owens (Chiodos).

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To quote Aubrey “Drake” Graham – I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes, the hoes, I suppose… I just want to be… I just want to be successful…
