Meet Andre Waredni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Waredni.

Hi Andre, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back then, I’d say it was 2013. I was a sophomore in high school trying to figure out who & what I wanted to be so just as anyone would do, I asked myself “what really makes me happy? & what am I passionate about? Up and downs are part of life and music was always my escape from reality. You can’t control certain things that happen in your life but I was certain I was going to do what I loved everyday and it was a promise I made to myself. Which still holds true today. Chillin with my friends, we would freestyle for hours everyday so I decided to get my own mic and studio setup and started writing and recording music. I fell in love with bringing these visions/ideas in my head to life and I was in complete control. I double downed on my passion and haven’t looked back since. I started releasing music as “yungg dray” for two years but since then rebranded to “Drvy” pronounced Dray (think if the v as an upside A) to keep things simple and original since 2019. I have released five projects since and I usually drop 1/2 projects a year along with singles. I make music based off real-life personal experiences and emotions or through the lenses of someone else. Perspective is everything and how you communicate materializing emotions with people across the world is my favorite part about being a musician. This thing called “life” nobody chose to be here we just showed up, so sharing my human experience through catchy melody’s and making people feel good combines my creative passion and making the world a better place. I always say, “I hope you enjoy my songs as much as I enjoyed making them”. I listen to all different kinds of music from rock to rap and even EDM. Naturally am influenced by them and I hope to one day not only rap and sing, I also want to produce and maybe even have my own record label.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Me personally, I started making music because I was depressed and needed to channel my emotions that were building up inside me. Not only did music keep me busy, it was the endless possibilities where my mind would float to that would be my “happy place” that I became so accustomed to. Going from a kid that didn’t wanna wake up to now looking forward to seeing what tomorrow holds was life-changing. Another struggle was being broke and penny-pinching just for studio time. Fake friends yah, everybody deals with them but realizing who’s real and fake was one of my biggest challenges and is one everyone has to learn, either the easy way or the hard way. My music has basic themes in every song I make, all related to my struggle, relationships, addictions, bouncing back from adversity, and fighting depression.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist outta Detroit, Michigan where the scene is actually popping right now. I have a song in my vault with an artist that recently got signed to QC. I’m most proud of how far iv came as an artist perfecting my craft and the person iv became in the process. Besides writing the songs, I love the process of recording them and bringing them to life. I have a great ear for music and never plan on stopping. What’s sets me next apart from others is I do what I LIKE period and I write or freestyle all my songs. I’m self-taught and base all my songs off the emotions I’m feeling in the moment.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My ability to talk about my life in a way that’s vulnerable yet, with so much truth that it relates to anyone doesn’t matter what age you are. Tying in my songwriting abilities along with catchy melodies & metaphors, I’d put myself against the best in the industry. I don’t just make songs, I actually live them.
