Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Silver.
Anastasia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a songwriter and singer. I love all types of music and one day hope to be on stage with some of the DJ’S that I admire most.
I grew up with basically no parents as they were in and out of jail since I was 4. With the help of my great grandparents and my grandmom, I was able to complete high school with a 4.0 and a full scholarship to U of O.
Writing and recording music has always given me a way to escape or a tool to sort out my feeling and now that I am nearing the end of college, I have been able to dedicate more time in the studio putting the lyrics of the songs that I have written to music. I have performed in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho in support of other artists, but this year I have started making my mark as a featured artist with multiple performances in southern California in renowned venues such as The El Rey Theatre, The Roxy, and the House of Blues in support of my single releases and I was selected as an SOS Tour Artist, who will tour the United States in support of the SOS Foundation. I hope that my story and my path inspires people to overcome challenges and never lose focus on the person they want to become. I don’t know if I have a message that resonates, but I just want people to never let your past define who you are and who you can be!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No! I was told that no road to success is easy and that is true. All I can say is that no matter how hard, don’t give up!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Besides singing and writing and school. I am very active in supporting and advocating for a children’s hospital Doernbecher in Portland, Oregon.
I also choreograph the contestants for the yearly contest to raise money for Doernbecher in my old high school.
Last but not least, I am a part of a new and amazing foundation called SOS #standupownupspeakup.
They advocate and help at risk youth that are dealing with mental adversities that come from bullying, peer pressure for sex or drugs, depression, etc. These adversities are huge and can lead to suicide or homicide and this foundation has artists like us who have gone through this and came out of it to help these other kids. It’s an awesome foundation.
