Meet Anastasia Bones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Bones.

Anastasia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am the creator, owner and designer for Anastasia bones. After deciding to quit my retail job I came up with the brand idea with my Mother on a trip to New York. I had just gone vegan and was having trouble finding brands that fit my style and that were also vegan and ethically made. The idea of the brand was to create edgy clothing that help women find their inner alter ego, which is where the name “Anastasia Bones” comes from. Anastasia Bones was originally my alter ego, now I go by the name in my daily life. We have recently rebranded to reach more people. We have just released out Mommy & Me line under our brand “Little Bones” which has matching Mother and Daughter pieces. We are a made to order brand and we repurpose all of our scrap pieces so that there is never any waste. My Mom, Sister and I do everything in the brand from designing, pattern making, making each piece and shipping each order out.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have had nothing but positive responses to the brand. People love the idea of everything being made to order by my Mom and Sister. The biggest struggle has been finding our client. The Miami client doesn’t really appreciate ethical, handmade clothing. We have found that we are much more successful in the LA area as the client in that area really appreciates supporting small, ethical businesses. We have also had recent success in New York, which is great because we haven’t even brought the brand there yet. We hope to have much more success in LA and New York!

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I love being such a huge part of the brand. I personally run the social media pages along with the website, design most of the pieces, source all of the fabric, submit all the orders to my Mom and Sister and pack and ship every order myself. Our brand as a whole specializes in making unique fashionable clothing, each piece to order. We are known for making everything in house. We are the only vegan clothing brand that is owned and operate by Sisters and Mothers that make every piece by hand in our home.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is being able to provide for my family through Anastasia Bones.
