Today we’d like to introduce you to Sini.
Sini, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been surrounded by the arts my whole life and just completely obsessed with music since before I could even walk. Music was just really natural to me, it was never forced upon me, and there was no great discovery that made me think “wow, I’m a musician”. I never had to “try”. Music was inside of me. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 6, and that was pretty inconsistent (due to family struggles), but this would mold, shape, and solidify my foundation as an artist. Still to this day, I won’t write a vocal melody without knowing it sounds dope as hell on the piano first. Along with exploring my love for classical piano, I had joined the school choir. This definitely brought out my love singing and performing. Fast forward ten years of turmoil, joy, heartache, and love, I’m determined and diligent in my creation. I’ve released two singles and a music video in the passed year, independently, and am continually working towards growing as an artist.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d like to say yes, but that’s a big fat no for me … I mean, I’m pretty happy and focused now. And I’ve worked very hard to keep my head above water. I’ve had a tough time. I was an extremely depressed teenager, and shortly after graduating highschool, my mother became terminally ill and did not live much longer after. She had always wanted me to get into a good university and find a stable job. But during this time, she gave me her blessing to pursue my passion and leave school. It’s been five years since her passing. Every struggle after this has been a breeze. I’m able to bounce back after every punch.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well, I’m a singer-songwriter and I’m in the midst of writing and producing my first EP. I’ve been performing all throughout LA for the passed couple years, that’s really my comfort zone. Thanks to my childhood, the stage is no stranger to me. And I don’t know what sets me apart from others… I’m just super honest about what I think and how I feel. I guess that’s a pretty unique quality in this industry.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
What I’m really proud of is getting everything I’ve gotten done so far with next to nothing. No family money, no backup plan. Every little accomplishment is from a place of unconditional love for music. I’ve had a lot of little proud moments from just fighting the odds.
