Meet Anaheim Photographer: Fluid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fluid .

Fluid, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I remember being into photo since I was very little, my parents would buy me disposable cameras once in a while. I always thought it was cool to be able to hold something in your hand from a brief moment in the past. I bought my first DSLR a couple of years back and that helped me learn a lot about editing but once I started doing film again, I fell in love with it. The whole process (from taking the photo to developing it at home) is the most rewarding feeling. I’ve had a bunch of accidents and the photos don’t turn up so I’ve had to learn to just deal with that and hope for more opportunities. Right now I’m working on getting more street and fashion/editorial photography under my belt on my own time.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like, to be a successful photographer these days you have to network, network, network. So my biggest obstacle is myself at this point because I’m not used to talking about my work or what it means or anything like that. Also working full-time and taking care of a younger sister eats up most of my time which means I hardly have time to set up shoots or go scout for locations or even approach people I’d like to take photos of.

What role has luck had in your life and career?
I feel like I’m definitely the kind of person that has good luck on their side. Of course, everyone has bad days but that’s how you know good days also exist, and that they’re coming. Lately, I’ve had a lot more luck finding people to work with and it’s exciting; I have many things to look forward to.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being determined is very important. Quality over quantity is always better but I want to get on the right level to do both. I’d like to put out a lot of great work back to back to back for as long as I can and the only way to do that is to actually put myself out there and do work.

What do you love about our city and what do you dislike?
Not even speaking on a city but California is really where my heart is, it’s got everything you can think of and that’s why I think it’s so fantasized about by people that don’t live here. What I don’t like, however, is how crowded we are now. I can’t even go grocery shopping on a weekend because I’ll be in line for an hour waiting to pay.

Pricing:

  • shooting one roll of film – $40, additional rolls after that $20
  • If you’d like to be my test subject for shoots, that is free of charge.

She is the most talented person I know. I think her work is amazing and I can’t wait to see what else she’s has in store for the future.
