Meet Ana Kahan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Kahan.

Ana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“When I’m older I really want to be a popstar and burst my heart out with music. Following my dream will change the world.” These are the words that filled my journal as a small seven years old. From the time I can remember, I’ve always wanted to sing. It’s always been my dream to be heard and to share my thoughts, experiences, and feelings with the world. I’ve kept a journal my entire life, and within those pages are stories that have shaped me into who I am today. At a young age, my journal entries turned into songs about friends, family, boys I liked, and the world around me. When I wanted to be heard, I would express myself through song. As I’ve gotten older, my passion for music has only grown. In the past few years, I’ve started recording my original songs. This past summer I released my first single ‘End of the Day’ and plan on releasing many more in the near future 😉

Has it been a smooth road?
I’m only just carving out my place within the crazy world of music but luckily it’s been nothing but joy. I’m super excited for what’s to come and have been so fortunate to have support from all of my family always. Of course, rejection is always plausible in the music industry, but through all the closed doors, many have opened and I am so grateful for those experiences. I am sure there will be tough roads ahead, but I am willing to push through them to do what I love most.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I love writing from personal experiences. Any song I write or release, I want it to be authentic and true to who I am and all that I’ve gone through. Whenever I’m having a hard time, a song I relate to will make me feel less alone. I always feel like if some of my biggest role models have overcome this, so can I. I want to use my music to do the same for others and share an honest, vulnerable story. I’ve been singing my entire life, but not until recently have I been dedicating all my time to learning more about the industry, writing and recording songs, and honing in on all things music. I’m looking forward to all that’s ahead and am currently working on many exciting projects that I’m hoping to release within the coming months.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Thanks to social media every artist can be heard no matter where one comes from. Technology today has allowed younger generations to attract audiences and gain exposure like never before. I believe that as technology grows it will only become more accessible for people to grow their audiences. Technology has made it easier for music producers who now can become hugely successful using only their laptop and YouTube tutorials. It’s as simple as sitting with your iPhone and uploading a video. As technology advances, so will those videos and production skills. Music is always changing alongside with our world. Music marks time periods, events, and evokes feelings from the past. As the world changes, so will music as it will continue to tell stories.
