Meet Amy Lussier of Organized By Amy Lynn in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lussier.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had always planned on being an elementary school teacher. I graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Child and Family Development and went on to receive my Masters in Early Elementary Education. While going to school, I met my husband, Michael and we got married.

During my student teaching, I became pregnant with our first child. I worked a long-term teaching position through my pregnancy and planned to go back to work after maternity leave. I loved being home so much with my little boy, and I couldn’t imagine leaving him, so I chose to be a stay-at-home mom with the ability to substitute teach here and there. Fast forward, and in less than four years we had two more babies.

We were in the thick of it all with three young children, and even though my husband and I made it work, it was not easy on one salary. But I knew in my heart that I wanted to be home with my babies and I would sacrifice what we had to allow me to have that time with them. As my children got a little older, I wanted to find something that I could do on my own time and around my kid’s schedules.

Ever since I can remember I have had a passion and excitement for organizing. I don’t think the apple falls far from the tree. My mom, step-dad, dad, and step-mom all instilled their ability to be very organized in my siblings and me. I would find myself as a little girl organizing my room, clothes, and toys. This did not stop through my adult life.

I remember in college, my roommates who are still two of my best friends, teasing me about my organized room and that everything was in its designated space pretty much at all times. When I had children, it may have become a little of an obsession, but I always knew where everything was and I rarely felt the chaos of being overwhelmed by kid’s toys and belongings.

I started to realize I had an eye for organizing more when my friends would come over and make comments about our home. They would comment on how I sorted and labeled the kid’s toys, how my home was tidy and they wished they could keep their homes organized as well. A dear friend of mine knew I wanted to start working and she encouraged me to share my love and ability to organize with others.

She became my guinea pig and I started to organize her home. Wow, I did not realize how much I enjoyed creating spaces that you can see a significant change from clutter to declutter. When I saw the joy on her face and how she felt from simply having her home organized, I knew she was right and I could create a business with my passion and excitement I have had for all these years.

Has it been a smooth road?
I would have to say I have had a few challenges along the way. One, being a full-time mom with very active and busy kids. At first, I thought I would work around their schedules, and for the most part, I am able to, however up until this school year, I had my youngest child home two days a week and I often found myself in a bind with child care. I always managed to make it work, but along came guilt with leaving my son or sometimes all three kids so I could work. I was beyond thankful for the business that I was able to stay busy with it and saw the potential for future success.

My husband’s career is demanding and most of the time I am the one to get the kids off to school, pick them up from school, to their activities, help with homework, dinner on the table and do the bedtime routine. My husband is a great dad, and when his career allows him to be home, he is 100% hands-on and that stress for me goes out the window and I can walk out the door to work for which I am thankful. Another challenge I still find myself facing is keeping up with social media.

Today, many small businesses are able to create success due to social media. I am still learning how to benefit from it and I love seeing the success others are able to build with it. My goal this year now that my kids are all in school full time is to continue to grow my business in ways I haven’t been able to by utilizing social media. I am eager to learn more and devote time to sharing my projects and day to day work via social media.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Organized By Amy Lynn – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Organized By Amy Lynn helps others go from overwhelmed and cluttered to peaceful and organized. Many of my clients are young families that don’t have the time to dedicate to their homes due to the craziness of everyday life with school and all the sports and activities after school.

The last thing many people want to do on the weekends or their days off is spend it organizing. This is where I come in. I share with my clients how to create a more efficient and functional way of living. Doing so will help allow for a more stress-free environment and restore their energy and happiness. I am non-judgmental and extremely dedicated to my clients.

I encourage, guide and educate on how to overcome organizing challenges by offering easy to follow systems to help maintain stress-free environments. My skills and strengths with organizing will reduce the stress and banish the awful feeling of being overwhelmed. Organized By Amy Lynn is able to create, design a plan, sort and label all spaces of the home such as garages, closets, kitchens, playrooms, offices and more.

Every home has its own specific needs and what I love most about what I can do for these families is that I get to know them on a personal level and then I provide information, ideas, products and assistance to meet their needs. Getting to know people on such a personal level, I often build friendships with my clients allowing us to stay in touch and I get to continue to encourage them with maintaining an organized home.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I absolutely love my city of Newport Beach in Orange County and where we live. My family and I are big beach lovers and being able to be a few miles away from the ocean is so wonderful. We spend a lot of time relaxing and having downtime while my kids play in the ocean.

There is so much to do in Orange County, from restaurants, to enjoy the outdoors with hiking, to museums and amusements parks.
