Meet Amy Jordan of Slone Vintage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Jordan.

Hi Amy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have had a love of vintage my entire life. Before I opened Slone Vintage, I was working in the fashion industry wearing a few different hats. Between visual display, wholesale account management and store planning. After years of travel and constant pressure, I decided to walk away and open my little dream. It has been seven years now and lots of ups and downs. Slone Vintage is named after my great-grandmother. Violet Slone. She was a strong woman who left an impression on me. Today my daughter and I run the shop on a daily basis.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening a business has all its own stresses. I actually painted the walls and built all the fixtures in the shop that are still there today. Although at the time I was trying to cut costs, I feel that I put my sweat and tears into those walls! Looking back after 2020, I’d say it was a smooth road. But seriously, I am forever great full for our wonderful neighborhood Magnolia Park. Every customer that has been coming for seven years, every neighbor that checked in to see how we are. All the positive love that comes in that door are always a welcomed sight.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Slone Vintage is a vintage clothing and gift shop. We have clothing from the 1930s-1990s for woman, men and kids. Each piece is hand-selected, cleaned and repaired. I wanted to use the used car moto. So if you find a piece that you loved, you can wear it out of the shop ready to go at a faire price. I think this sets Slone Vintage apart. I’m most proud that I’ve kept the same motto throughout the seven years of business. To be honest, to clean repair each piece and to be fair. I want your readers to understand how much love goes into selecting each piece that goes into the store. How much it means to have an Instagram follow, a pop in to say hi, and of course for them to find their new favorite piece!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I wear legging at home! Haha, As much as I love fashion, I love to be outside. Just hanging out in the grass gardening.
