Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Jordan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was wrapping up a difficult divorce and started taking Pilates in 2006. I found that one hour to be incredibly healing and head clearing every time. So, getting bitten by the ‘Pilates Bug’ is exactly how I got my start in this rewarding and dynamic work. Not being one to wallow, I felt a passionate desire to open a studio in order to pay it forward and share Pilates with my home town. One studio with reformers wasn’t achieving exactly what I wanted to share so I literally sketched our patented WundaFormer on an airplane and within one year had our first WundaBar Pilates studio open for business. It’s been a wild and crazy (and sometimes bumpy!) path, especially as that year coincided with the pregnancy and birth of my son(!) but it’s an intrinsic and fulfilling choice I made to create my own path sharing positivity and health with as many as I possibly can!
Using a third-person voice:
Amy originally practiced Pilates in Hollywood as a hobby to achieve her fitness goals, but after ups and downs in her personal life, it became more than a workout – Pilates had become a motivating and mind-saving place for her. After experiencing the amazing outcomes not only to her physique but also to her frame of mind, she decided to share that positivity with others in her hometown of Montrose, California, by opening her first Pilates studio in 2008. Her motivation was to bring health, strength, and good things to her clients’ lives and based on the thousands of devoted new friends who work out with Amy, those objectives were achieved and then some!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a mostly smooth road built on an epic amount of blood sweat and tears…and the majority of it at toboggan speed! If you asked me in 2008 what I’d be doing now, I’d have bet a million dollars it would be running an entertainment studio and not Pilates studios! I loved the fun of working in entertainment and traveling the world to big movie sets, but it wasn’t fulfilling my soul. I took a wild leap out of a glamorous and successful career – and started my first two locations with regular reformer machines…but realized there was SO much more to offer and that’s when I created the WundaFormer that brings so many apparatuses into one seamless experience. It took numerous prototypes and years of testing to get the WundaFormers where they are today, that process – including earning a US patent for my design – have been a winding road but a fun and wild ride!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the WundaBar Pilates story. Tell us more about the business.
WundaBar is Pilates, reinvented. We initiate all movements from the inside out – literally starting with our bone rhythms and rotations to deliver results and target muscles you didn’t even know you have! WundaBar takes core power, body sculpting cardio, and true strength to unparalleled levels to thousands of WundaBar devotees every day on our exclusive WundaFormers.
It’s so rewarding to watch our clients feel better in their own skin as they improve functionality and strength – the lean and toned results we see on the outside are the cherry on top for how we feel on the inside.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Not sure I’d go with the word “luck.” A million blessings have come my way in small daily doses and great big exciting doses too! Coupled with hard work and strong ideas something truly incredible can happen – in my case, WundaBar!
A quote I like to remember on the subject of difficulties that come our way in business or otherwise is…
“Learn the alchemy true human beings know. The moment you accept what troubles you’ve been given, the door will open.” – Rumi
Rather than resisting difficulties or agonizing over them it’s so much better to accept, lean in and find a solution. I’ve found solutions I never knew were an option by following this process. It brings peace on dark days.
