Meet Amanda Page Cornett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Page Cornett.

Amanda Page, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Songs started coming out of my mouth before I could speak! By age nine, I was writing them down and recording them. I played an original for the first time at 13 and knew I was meant to perform & create! Years later, that led me to Nashville, where you choose to learn from the best or you go home. I still choose to learn and develop my skills.

About five years ago, I was in a car wreck that didn’t look that bad, but I ended up with three years of nerve pain in both hands, along with about nine months of semi-laryngitis, which is pretty scary! The injuries led me to seek out Dave Isaacs, the Nashville Guitar Guru, to help me play guitar more efficiently and pain-free. They also led me to an amazing voice coach, Liz Johnson, who saved my vocal career and then some!

During that struggle, I took time to dig deep and came up with a mission statement for my music to remind me of why I do what I do. My mission is: To create and execute authentic musical experiences people can deeply feel.

I also began working towards recording my Front Porch Rebel album, which I co-produced with Randall Scott Peterson. My band, Randall (guitar), Sherry Peterson-Tenille (bass), and Shawn Peterson (drums) went to Muscle Shoals’ NuttHouse Recording Studio, where we created an album I’m truly proud of!

I’m continuously trying to build on that album and “get the ball rolling” more and more! It’s a lot of hard work, but I love creating and performing!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nashville is definitely its own beast, much like LA for actors. After years of swearing, I wouldn’t get jaded, I found I had. That’s when I created my mission statement. It is not easy to do this “music thang” as an independent artist, but I’m thankful I’m making music I believe in, with amazing Co-writers and bandmates.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an entertainer, songwriter, publisher, and co-producer. Lyric writing and singing/performing are definitely my strengths! I surround myself with great musicians and melody people so we compliment each other. I’m insanely proud of the Front Porch Rebel album Randy and I co-produced! We worked for six months on pre-production before going into the studio. It was magical! I’m really glad we made an album we love vs just trying to do what the industry may have encouraged. One thing that sets me apart is my attitude moving to Nashville. I knew, before moving here, that the “average overnight success” is 7-9 years. I came in wanting to and willing to learn, knowing I had a lot to learn. Many come in believing they will be instant stars. I knew better! I’m also proud I’ve stayed grounded in who I am and that I associate with great people!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Captivating by Staci & John Eldredge is one of the few books I’ve read multiple times, each taking something new from it. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay helped me get back to who I am as a creative and Why I create!

I read the Upper Room devotional (app) each day, as well. I’m also a big fan of escape games and brain game apps.
