Meet Alyssa Lourenco of Harlow Jewelry in 562 Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Lourenco.

Alyssa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started this small business as a side hobby. I wanted to make gold-filled jewelry for myself while we were all in quarantine. Interest grew, and I realized how much I loved it, so I decided to take on small business. In the past few months, I have learned so much and am so grateful for all of the support I’ve received!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has definitely been challenges! When you’re starting from ground zero there is SO much to learn. I have a friend who owns her own small business and she definitely helped. I read a lot, watched a lot of videos and tried to gather as much information as I could. I ordered tons of material to test and try everything out myself. But overall, I feel like I have been really lucky!

Harlow Jewelry – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Harlow Jewelry is gold filled jewelry. Most of my pieces are dainty. You can mix and match everything I sell to create your own look. You can layer the bracelets and necklaces, and I feel like that’s what the appeal is. I love seeing how my customers style their jewelry and which pieces they mix and match. I think that the beaded bracelets are what I am most proud of because I hand bead every single one myself!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think seeing the customer loyalty is what gives me the warm and fuzzies. Seeing repeat orders makes me feel so, so proud because I know that not only did they love their purchase, but they loved it enough to come back and purchase more.
