Meet Alysia Moskolis of Move & Moxie, The Bar Method Studio City and Brentwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysia Moskolis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had two loves. Fashion and Fitness. My background is in fashion buying and merchandising and while working a fast-paced fashion career I discovered The Bar Method and quickly became addicted, auditioned, trained and taught classes at 6AM before work. I did this for years and discovered that my passion had shifted into teaching and I opened The Bar Method Studio City with my amazing business partner Kat Adkins. After 2 years of building a successful studio I started dabbling back into my fashion background. I designed and printed barre specific tanks for my studio and soon other studios were asking for them so organically Move & Moxie became a business and is now sold in major barre chains, private studios and online!

While building this fashion business, Kat and I continued to grow our studio and took on a second studio, The Bar Method Brentwood last year. I didn’t know the entrepreneurial fire that I had in me and am enjoying the rewards and challenges of running three businesses.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges but I wouldn’t call them struggles. As a business owner, you have to be able to constantly adjust and problem solve. I believe in the power of always doing your best with positive and good intentions and all will work out fine. I do look back at many challenges where I can say that would’ve been somewhat impossible without having a kick ass business partner. I’m grateful to have built our studios with Kat.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Move & Moxie. The Bar Method Studio City. The Bar Method Brentwood. – what should we know?
Move & Moxie apparel is about sunshiny fitness vibes and specializes in fun graphics that are mostly centered around barre workouts. I love being outside and active by the beach. The Move & Moxie girl is powerful, happy and confident. She radiates positivity, chooses happiness and makes the most of every day☀️

Our Bar Method studios are known for delivering a low impact workout that targets hard to reach muscles and the result is long, lean muscles and serious dancer body results! Our locations specifically are known as being the most welcoming and friendly studios in LA. We have created a space where everyone cheers each other on.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My business partner for our studios Kat Adkins is the yin to my yang. We have created a positive community and culture in our studios that we are so proud of and it wouldn’t be what it is without us both.

We have an amazing team of skilled and inspiring instructors in both of our studios that help us teach the 90 classes on our schedules each week!

Our clients in Studio City saw us start with nothing and build a studio and community from scratch and we are so grateful for all of them. Our clients in Brentwood are fierce and we are having so much fun getting to know this community just 4 months in!
