Meet Alvin Nguyen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alvin Nguyen.

Hi Alvin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been a freelance photographer for over ten years, where I specialize in family and personal brand photography. My business has always been in Orange County, where I have spent most of my life. My journey into photography started almost three decades ago in high school in a black-and-white photography film class. I never imagined being a full-time photographer when I first began, but I can’t see myself doing anything else. I love photography, but I love the flexibility and lifestyle it offers me even more. I get to spend a lot of time with my kids and family, which is the most important thing to me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has always been a slow incremental development. I have had to not only learn how to be a photographer but also a business owner on my own. Currently, my biggest struggle is managing my personal life and my life as a business owner. In addition to being a full-time photographer, I am a stay-at-home Dad which most of my time is dedicated to. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t change anything in my journey, I have gained so much experience, knowledge and growth.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a freelance photographer who specializes in family and personal branding. I want my photographs to feel warm, fun and authentic. When it comes to my business, I am most proud of the 100% 5-star reviews I have from customers. My clients have said that I know how to make them feel comfortable and put them at ease which helps bring out their best selves.

My favorite quote is from Maya Angelou “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

What were you like growing up?
I was the only boy and the youngest of three children. Growing up, I played basketball, football and skateboarded. All these activities were large but different parts of my youth. I was always hanging out with friends with every chance I had. I still call a lot of friends from grade school and junior high my closest friends.
