Meet Frany Shah of ALOHA Mind Math/Reading/Writing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frany Shah.

Our journey in education and entrepreneurship started when we were looking for a preschool for our daughter who is now 15. Frany who fell in love with Montessori methodology underwent Montessori training in Missouri. She has worked in various Montessori schools around the country ( Missouri, Minnesota, California). They came across the ALOHA methodology while looking for a strong, out of the box type of math program for their kids. ALOHA’s abacus-based math program didn’t have centers in SoCal, so Frany and Jignesh decided to bring the great program to Orange County in 2011. Since then, they have been committed to providing quality math and language arts after-school enrichment programs to 3 to 18-year-old kids. First, ALOHA learning center gained its popularity and their goodwill spread among Irvine families very quickly. Now, they have 3 locations; Irvine, Tustin and Lake Forest.

Contribute to the community:
Supports and runs “Destination Imagination” teams as a team manager and program coordinator
established and running regional language ( Gujarati) library “Pustak Parab” in Lake Forest that lends books without cost volunteers at Orange County Book Festival and collects books for donations volunteers at Ektaa Center as a social media coordinator

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life comes easy. There have been many struggles but Every new stage of life requires new you. Having said that it requires constant learning and believing in your dreams.

Faced struggles like lost direction so now what, juggling personal lives and full-time jobs, spending time with children, optimizing the operations. With each struggle, my belief in god and spirituality grew stronger. My firm belief of God resides within me to guide me in every step of the way prevails when there is a moment of doubt.

ALOHA Mind Math/ Reading/ Writing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

MIND MATH SENIOR – For students 8-12 years old. ALOHA Senior Mental Arithmetic helps students build confidence in math. The program trains students to perform high-speed complex calculations without the aid of a calculator. It also gives them an advantage when learning Common Core concepts.

ALOHA READING | WRITING – ALOHA English program for Grades 1-5. The goal of this teacher-led program is to inspire your child to read and write without difficulty. Our structured program motivates, stimulates young minds, and develops a passion for reading and writing spontaneously!

ALOHA CHAMP – an extension of our Reading | Writing program, is designed for 5-6-year-old children specifically structured for young children to help them learn the basics of Language Arts – listening, reading, speaking and writing.

ALOHA TINY THINKERS – our newest program: a math program for Pre-K children, ages 3-5. This dynamic pre-K program introduces kids to the world of math in interactive and fun ways that lay a foundation for math success and also prepares them for state and common core learning later in school.
