Today we’d like to introduce you to Allan I. Frankel, M.D.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Just over 11 years ago, I learned of the therapeutic value and benefits of cannabis as a medicine. After having practiced internal medicine for 25 years at that point and prescribing treatments, some with side effects that were not tolerable for patients, I was amazed at the range of conditions that could be treated with cannabis. I then began devoting my practice to recommending cannabis therapies.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest obstacle has been acceptance of cannabis as a therapy.

Dr. Frankel has presented multiple CME accredited Grand Rounds lectures on internal medicine and therapies in medical cannabis. He has also participated in round table discussions on the topic of future therapies and research for medical cannabis sponsored by the California Medical Association and the Los Angeles County Medical Association.
In addition to graduating second in his class from the UCLA School of Medicine, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. For three years, Dr. Frankel was selected by his peers as one of LA magazine’s “Top Internists”. He was a Clinical Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, for eighteen years.

- Initial consultations are $350, and although we do not take insurance, we provide patients with an insurance “superbill” for submission to their health insurance carrier.
