Meet Alin Sedge of Baby Meets Nursery in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alin Sedge.

Alin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My professional background is in Financial Planning, but in 2017, the experience of motherhood naturally led me to a career change that I had always dreamt of. I finally felt the power to pursue mindful interior design and styling with a niche that I felt so connected to: baby nurseries and kids spaces. Nothing is more important than providing catered services to new and expecting parents at a time when they have so much going on and really need direction, inspiration, and support.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t imagine starting a new business while caring for an infant ever being an easy road, but it’s definitely been rewarding! Gaining the right clients has been a challenge, but networking and spreading awareness of what Baby Meets Nursery can really offer for new and expecting parents are helping pave the way.

Getting pregnant less than a year from launching Baby Meets Nursery has also been interesting. Not too much of a challenge, although I was quite exhausted for a couple of months, but more of a way to reconnect with expecting mamas and show them that I am right there with them on this journey!

Baby Meets Nursery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Baby Meets Nursery offers interior styling packages focused on baby nurseries and kids spaces. The goal is to help create a perfect space for little ones and take the stress off the plate of the parents or parents-to-be.

There are three main packages, but all are customizable and come with much more support than which crib to pick and what color accent wall to go with! Being a new mom, and loving it, I strive to fill clients’ experience with me with positivity and encouraging words regarding what parenthood has in store.

Helping families make mindful decisions when creating space for babies and kids has been the most rewarding part of what I do. We are bombarded with intense marketing of what companies think we need and what our babies need, but the reality is that we are capable of being conscious consumers that make intentional purchases.

I provide support for baby shower registries and encourage expecting parents to wait until they meet their babies and see what they really need instead of going for it all right from the start.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As a new entrepreneur, what makes me feel most proud is not being afraid to adjust and move forward, to rebrand and market as needed and to try new things.

Baby Meets Nursery is here to serve a very special subset of fabulous people out there: Parents! So it is imperative to be in tune with what they really value and to learn how I can enhance the parenthood experience for them with my services.
