Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Dunams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I wrote my first book in 2007. Back then, self-publishing was novel, and so I had many people ask me to help them write and publish a book. I turned that into a business. I’ve helped about 2000 people write a book utilizing my Bestseller in a Weekend book writing intensive. I also have a leadership training business called Authoring Leadership.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I started my Bestseller in a Weekend business during the recession of 2008 – it made me get creative because people didn’t have thousands of dollars to spend on coaching and publishing services. I created the workshop so it was more affordable. And now, During this 2020 recession, I have grown my leadership business because there has been a dire need for JEDI (justice equity diversity inclusion) training (Because of Racial injustice and discord across the nation). Actually, both businesses are busy because a quarantine is a great time to write a book.

Bestseller in a weekend is a book writing intensive that has supported thousands in writing a draft book manuscript in a weekend. I also provide all author services and book marketing through my other brands Publish to Profit and The Book Funnel. I am the CEO and principle facilitator – I also write and facilitate leadership training for corporates and firms.
What were you like growing up?
I was a risk-taking kid – was involved in lots of extracurricular activities etc.. I started modeling at 17. I knew I was going to run my own business.
