Meet Alice Cangas of Dance Fitness By Alice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Cangas.

Alice, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began teaching Latinva Dance Fitness in 2012 at Terrenea Resort. That blossomed into Dance Fitness classes at many local gyms in the Southbay. I am now currently teaching a specialized dance fitness class in my own private studio in Torrance.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a constant learning experience. The determination to keep going when class numbers were not profitable. Dealing with so many personalities and demographics. Most definitely a challenge. This profession is such a personal journey. Putting yourself out there for public scrutiny was also very challenging.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dance Fitness By Alice – what should we know?
I teach a specialized form of dance fitness. Latinva Dance Fitness was founded (I don’t have the exact year, but it’s been at least 15) by Johnny Latin. I am a direct student of his. I found the format exciting and challenging, and after years of being a student, I was trained by him to teach.

Along the way, I have also started my own niche called ZDanceFit. Both of these formats have an intense choreography standard. What sets my program apart is the choreography and the intense concentration that is needed to participate. You have to be present.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Never give up.
