Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Sabet.
Ali, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 1999, I started Sabet Brands! A boutique branding and advertising agency in Irvine. After 20 years of helping create successful brands around the world, I transitioned to full-time painting in 2015. Today I paint for a living and that’s truly a blessing. I still do some branding work from time to time for select clients. Some of my branding work includes the El Torito Identity, Flipagram branding (now known as TikTok) and The complete design of Thayers Naturals – the maker of the most famous Witch Hazel Product in the world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being in business for over 21 years, I can tell you that it’s been a roller coaster of a ride. When I started, I had no idea what I was getting into. Finding clients, keeping clients, understanding how to value my worth and so on was difficult. It took years before I would get somewhat of a handle on things. Another challenge is also not being able to find the right type of client. People can be tough to work with and if you’re not seasoned you can get hurt and trampled on. I really had very few guides so I picked up many bruises along the way. For some, it’s the only way to learn. I’m not sure if I would do it over again. It was pretty painful.
Please tell us more about your art.
Today I’m a full-time artist. I paint. I create expressive works, sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract but always connected to a higher source when I create. It truly brings me joy to see how people respond to my work. There’s always love and healing that comes from the process and the exchange of selling my art. A few years ago, I started channeling a language that is affectionately called “Lovescript” – It flows through me fluently and sometimes shares hidden messages for the ones who are attracted to it. Some call my work healing – which is interesting since about a year ago, I started to have the ability to be an energy healing facilitator.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Looking beyond a COVID-world – I can’t wait to go back to my shows and signings. I collaborate with many well-known brands, such as MontBlanc, John Varvatos, Furla, BMW and more. The shows and signings with the collaborations are on a standstill currently – so I’m truly looking forward to more of these events.
