Meet Alexandra Fresquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Fresquez.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m 26 years old, originally from Roswell NM. I am currently singing, and am also a registered nurse, to support my singing career. I’ve known since I was a little girl, that singing was what I wanted to do, but was truly too shy to ever pursue it, until I got to LA. I never pictured myself there but ended up there, because I was engaged to someone who, of course, was an aspiring actor. Then through circumstance, having the worst break up, etc., I started working on my own music, which I never thought was possible, or that I was ever good enough, and even though it was one of the hardest times of my life, it completely changed it, in the absolute best way.

Please tell us about your art.
Music is my passion and the only thing I can imagine myself doing for the rest of my life. It’s the only thing that makes me feel whole. I really want to make a difference using the thing I love most, which is singing. I want to inspire, and help other people, who can’t see what I see, in themselves, I want people to understand the potential they all have, and also the potential that we all have to help and support each other. Currently, I have a new song coming out, which was inspired by my mom. It’s a song that has two meanings, like all of my songs. You can hear it and it sounds like it’s about an evil man, or just a bad guy, that you’ve been in a relationship with, but it’s truly about cancer and everything it can and can’t take from you. I’m very excited to see what everyone thinks of it. My mom passed away in October this year, but was still the strongest, most optimistic, never complaining, kind of person I’ve ever known. She is the perfect example of not letting cancer take away your spirit.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I definitely think the industry has changed in good and bad ways. It’s good because it’s easier for everyone to get their music out there, but with that said, it means there’s so much competition, and it’s harder to get “big”, if that’s what you’re going for. I also don’t like knowing that a lot of the music, out there has gotten to where it’s at, because someone has a lot of money behind it. There are so many songs out there that I can’t believe they’re on the radio, but lucky for everyone there’s a lot of outlets now. I definitely like that there are events for up and coming artists, and things like that, that make being discoverable more easy. In LA, there are a lot of opportunities like this if you look for them. I would love if there were more things like that in other cities. If you’re determined though, I believe you’ll find a way.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My music is out on all platforms right now, so you can find it anywhere you find any of your other music. Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Iheart, Amazon, Deezer, etc. My new song isn’t out yet but will be soon, and if you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, etc. I will let you know when. My Instagram and Twitter is zanfresquez, and you can find me on all other platforms as ‘Alexandra Fresquez’. I plan on selling merchandise for my upcoming song, and part of the proceeds will go to breast cancer research. So keep an eye out, if you want to help support my work, as well as a good cause. ❤️
