Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Alexandra Chebil.
Dr. Chebil, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I opened my practice in Orange County in 1997 with a special interest in Laser Vision Correction and facial aesthetics. My grandfather was an ophthalmologist who worked with the Veteran’s Hospital in Los Angeles and was my inspiration for entering this field.
Vision is probably the most important sense; the quality of a person’s sight directly impacts their quality of life, Over the past twenty years I have made it my goal to preserve and improve a person’s eyesight through LASIK, a life-changing procedure that gives perfect vision without the need for glasses.
Once a person can see better through LASIK, they often want to improve their appearance without resorting to plastic surgery. By patient request, I now also offer non-surgical options like Botox and dermal fillers, for a more youthful, rested look.
I believe that the best results for both vision and aesthetics depend on the expertise of the physician. With over twenty years experience, I take great pride in personally performing all aspects of patient care and after-care.
My dedicated staff members, Jennifer and Marsha, work directly with patients to insure an exceptional experience in our relaxing, stress-free oasis. We offer free consultations so we can show you what sets us apart.
Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started my career as an ophthalmologist, my goal was to cure people with eye diseases. LASIK is performed on people that do not have an eye disease, just a desire to see without glasses or contact lenses. It took a leap of faith to perform my first LASIK procedure in 1987 years before it had received FDA approval.
After seeing how life-changing LASIK could be, I have dedicated my practice to this remarkable vision option.
LASIK has not always been easy accepted; some eye care providers see it as a threat to their eyeglass business and unfairly discourage patients from exploring this option.
Some people were not good candidates for LASIK twenty years ago, but are encouraged to see if our new technology can help.
As one of very few female ophthalmologists offering LASIK in the Orange County area. I am fortunate to have never sensed any gender discrimination in my practice. In fact, the reverse may be true; many patients come to me with a preference for women physicians.
As a solo practitioner, the current challenge is to stand out from the LASIK chains with seemingly unlimited marketing dollars. I stress the importance of having one surgeon responsible for all aspects of patient care, not only during the procedure, but equally important, dealing with any concerns during the after care.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I started The Lasik Center Medical Group in 1997, long before LASIK became a household word. My company is small, but my dedicated staff and I have been providing personalized care for over twenty years.
We pride ourselves in seeing patients as family and friends, and share with them their goals for better vision and a better appearance.
I mainly perform the life-changing procedures known as “Laser Vision Correction”; LASIK and PRK. These treatments will permanently allow a person to see clearly without the need for glasses or contact lenses. I have the most state-of-the-art technology and will honestly inform you if you are not a good candidate for these procedures. I will do my best to refer you for alternate treatment if I believe it could help.
I also offer non-invasive aesthetic procedures like Botox and dermal fillers to patients who want to look better without plastic surgery.
These “non-surgical facelifts” improve self-confidence and increase motivation for thousands of people.
My business model is to provide personalized care with a goal to long term satisfaction for all my patients. All procedures are performed by myself, a medical doctor with over twenty years experience in the field.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is a great place for businesses like mine.
In Orange County, there is a growing influx of millennials who place value on individuals and small businesses who strive to stand out from large corporations.
Many people, including myself, would prefer to receive personalized service and care from businesses that don’t have a “one size fits all” mentality.
The city could help by placing restrictions on the number of large corporations gaining foothold in small commercial centers, thereby encouraging individual creativity.
