Meet Alexa Lusader of Love, Alexa in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Lusader.

Alexa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been a musician pretty much all my life. My debut performance was three years old singing Evita’s “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” in front of the TV screen & never stopped letting out some kind of tune. My parents put me into singing lessons when I was seven & I started writing songs when I was 13. From a young age, I knew I would spend the rest of my life chasing this dream. I started off recording covers & originals at a home studio in my hometown of Rochester, Michigan. I was creating mainly pop music for years, then I was introduced to the electronic dance music scene. That’s when it went from local to global, sending my vocals all over the world to different producers. Began making a little bit of a name for myself as Alexa Lusader and made the long-awaited trek to Los Angeles.

Moving here was a whirlwind. Discovering myself & my sound in a city like this was not an easy task. I started writing love notes in early 2017 as a way to get my thoughts out because I was getting antsy that my music wasn’t coming out fast enough. Late that year, I ended up changing my name to Love, Alexa to fit my aesthetic & create the music I wanted to make. It allowed me to open up & be more vulnerable in my songs. I released an EP called “Dear You..” last year, and now I’m releasing a single a month this year as well as multiple collaborations, mainly with EDM producers.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a bumpy road with boulders, a lot of twists and turns, and sometimes veering so far off, I had to create a dirt road to find my way back haha. To be completely honest, most of my struggles were in my mind. I dealt with some trauma in my childhood which held me back from seeing the world clearly. I write about it in my songs “#101 Russian Roulette” & “#78 A Little More Love.” They touch on the sexual abuse I endured as a 12-year-old.

It’ll always be difficult to say out loud, but music makes it a little bit easier to cope with. It took a toll on my spirits for almost half my life & held me back from really pursuing my dreams the way I wanted to. From the last half of 2017 until now, I’ve been working through all the repressed feelings, and I can’t tell you how much healed & grown since. Sometimes I feel like a brand new person.

Because I’ve been actively working through my traumas & problems, I’m able to really go out and get what I want. Honestly, I’m really fucking proud of myself because I hit absolute rock bottom and dug my way back up in order to live a healthier life the way I want to. I’m not sure if the triggers will ever really go away but even on my bad days, I’m still a hell of a lot happier and through my music, I want to encourage people to heal themselves and live their best lives.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Love, Alexa – what should we know?
I am an artist, a singer/songwriter to be exact. My music is a fusion of vintage & modern. A Vintage jazzy voice layered with modern pop, R&B melodies. I also write love notes.

The way in which I tie everything together is that each one of my songs is prefaced with a number that corresponds to the real-life love note that inspired that track. They can all be found on my socials. The world I want to create for my fans is a place of love, authenticity, raw emotion, and having the freedom to be yourself.

When I write love notes, it’s not just about romantic love. It’s about love in its purest form. Falling in love with yourself & the world around you. I think we could all use a little more of that right now.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance. There have been so many times I could have easily given up & never did because I want this so much. This is the only thing I want to do for the rest of my life, my only option. I haven’t allowed myself to come up with a plan B.
