Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Yeske.
Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am originally from the east coast and moved to Los Angeles in 2020. I previously worked as an art director and graphic designer for numerous fashion brands in New York City. After about a decade working in fashion, I decided to try out my love for interiors and worked as an intern for a Brooklyn-based interior designer. I fell in love with it and knew I wanted to do that with my career.
When we made the move to Los Angeles and bought our first house, it made sense to finally take the jump to interiors. I worked part-time for another designer to learn the ins and outs of the business side of design. I officially launched my own interior design firm at the end of January 2022 and haven’t looked back since!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve definitely had my fair share of road bumps along the way. Starting over in a new industry is challenging on its own, but also throw in learning how to run a business all on your own! I’m fortunate that I have an amazing group of other designers around me that have helped guide me when I struggle.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an interior designer specializing in full-service residential projects in Los Angeles, California and throughout the country.
My interiors are curated and thoughtful, while always remaining comfortable and functional—all of my spaces are meant to be truly lived in and enjoyed. I love to mix classic pieces and antiques into every space I design, resulting in a warm and timeless interior.
I love to comb through estate sales, antique stores and flea markets to find special pieces for my client’s homes.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and Rome wasn’t built in a day.
