Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Pires
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Alex Joseph Pires is a SAG/AFTRA Actor, Producer, Writer and Comedian.
Originally from Massachusetts, Alex learned the ropes working in projects all over New England including print, industrials, commercials, theater, indie films and web series’. He then spent the better part of a decade in New York City working in major television and film projects as well as training with the renowned coach Anthony Abeson in his two year advanced acting program. A natural comedian, Alex strengthened his skills performing improv through The PIT and stand-up all over the city.
Next, he moved to Los Angeles to push even harder in film, tv, commercial and voice-over. While there he has also trained in UCB’s sketch writing program. Additionally, Alex is the co-founder of Escape the Box Productions, producing a variety of projects with numerous genres.
With a lifetime of experience acting, dancing, singing, writing and producing, Alex is an Artist you want to keep your eyes on. He has a true passion for creating laughter as well as affecting the hearts and minds of people around the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about this path is smooth, other than knowing you’re ultimately happier than if you didn’t try at all. I think the struggles are a combination of all the things we’ve heard before, (auditioning sucks, there’s still plenty of bigotry, the catch 22 of getting good work/good reps, etc) and now the industry is very different than when I started in 2012. Filmmaking itself has become more accessible but finding regular work seems harder than ever for almost everyone I know.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of my acting instructors, Anthony Abeson, always said we have the universe inside us, so I’d like to think I have the ability to play any part within any genre. That being said, I’m particularly drawn to comedy. I created, wrote and starred in a comedy web series, “P’s in a Pod”, that did well in festivals garnering 12 selections and a few wins. I co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in a dark comedy short, “Last Night With the Devil” that is making its way through the festival circuit with several selections so far. I have performed stand up in NYC and sketch comedy on both coasts. I’m proud of all my work and I know each piece is part of an ever changing artistry.
