Meet Alessandra Torresani of Some Like It Dot in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessandra Torresani.

Alessandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Some Like It Dot was an idea that was just waiting for me start it! I had been a competition dancer as a little girl. Yes, like those little ladies on the crazy reality series ‘Dance Moms’. I love them. I was them! All of my costumes were hand-sewn by my mom, which included a masterful mix of all the bedazzles she could find crafted into one tiny child outfit. Nothing brings me more joy than the nostalgia of hand made dance costumes. I can’t get enough and still wear bedazzles every chance I get.

Once I became a dog mom, I decided it was time for me to dress my little lady in her own custom bedazzles, obviously. It became clear, fast that she wasn’t into the dresses like some other fancy dogs are. She DOES, however, LIVE for a bow on her collar!

I made Dottie all sorts of bows and bandanas, and even bow ties for my son Pee-Wee Herman. Friends started to compliment my babies’ accessories and asked for custom orders. Strangers on the street would ask where I got their looks. Then, my social media audience started DM’ing me requests. SO, as a creative outlet and to make every furry parent happy, I decided it was time to launch the collection on my favorite holiday, Halloween! The themes continue, the fun keeps going, and I just want to make every furry friend FABULOUS! PS: 10% of each purchase goes toward an animal charity that changes with every collection!

Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not, but let me ask you, what is. From hand sewing, our first products to finding the best manufacturers is never an easy feat. Sometimes the greatest stuff comes the hard way.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The best advice I ever got was the most important part of your company will be your customer service. Even though I have a busy schedule, I keep things super personal with my clientele. It is all about learning what they like, and sometimes what they don’t like. I need them happy in order for me to be happy. I want them to enjoy every piece to the fullest. Some Like It Dot stands apart because not only do our collections have themes, but they are also limited edition. Once they are gone, they can never be brought back. That is the special magic we bring to our furry friends.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Inspiration is everything. I am lucky enough to be inspired where I live, good old Hollywood! My advice to other entrepreneurs is find what makes your blood flow and your heartbeat. It’s super cheesy I know but listen to your heart.
