Meet Alejandra and Jorge Schneider of MS Art Gallery in San Pedro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra & Jorge Schneider.

The Menduiña Schneider Art Gallery was born out of the mutual passion for the arts that both owners share. Alejandra Schneider, an accomplished Artist, Curator and Teacher, and her husband Jorge Schneider, a writer and artist too, first came up with the idea for a gallery when they realized that they both shared an equally love for the Arts.

Alejandra through her works has received worldwide acclaim and some of her pieces are now part of several museum’s permanent collections, such as The Museum of Fine Arts of Kosovo, Casa de la Cultura del Chimborazo, Ecuador, and El Museo Inti-Nan en la mitad del mundo, Quito, Ecuador. Jorge Schneider’s novels have been extensively published through Spanish speaking countries, among them “La Grieta” (2002 Editorial NuevoHacer, GEL).

Both are avid Art Collectors, specializing in Latin American Art and they have travelled extensively around the globe building strong relationships with some of the most impressive new talent that has emerged from Latin America in recent years. The gallery strives to bring forth not only painters or sculptors per say, but true artist in the deepest meaning of the word. Each work of art selected by the gallery not only is the product of flawless technique but also the inward journey of the person that creates without fear. And it is in that process that the result is astonishing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been Campbell’s Heroe’s Journey from the get go. Nothing comes easy, from finding the place to bringing the works of Latin American Artists to the U.S., overcoming the bureaucracy of many countries it’s been both challenging and frustrating, but at the end it has been worthwhile.

The biggest challenge we faced was in one word: Execution. Once we knew what we wanted we had to sit down and make a plan and redraft it many times along the way. Those are the only struggles we can think of. As for finding the artists, that comes easy to us as we are both artists too so we know many great artists all over the world.

MS Art Gallery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an Art Gallery that specializes in Latin American Art. We work with Emerging, Mid-Career and Latin American Artists.

We don’t like the word “proud” but we are happy to only offer original works in the age of “giclees”. What sets us apart is that we sell what we like instead of liking only those that do sell. We bring forth art even is not commercially viable.

We don’t follow the market or trends, we follow and hunt talent and genius.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is living your dream and making your passion the blood of that quest.
