Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleah Trends.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my clothing brand The Youngest In Charge in 2019 at the end of my 1st year of York University. I have always been into business and fashion since I was young. My mom is an entrepreneur in the clothing space as well. My uncles both own restaurants. I had my first job at 14. I used to have garage sales and sell things online like my xbox to make money. I have always been into clothes and fashion as an expression of myself. I combined my two loves to create a brand. I started attending business conferences when I got older and people would ask what my business was and I didn’t have one so I decided the easiest business to start was a clothing brand. I started with simple t-shirts with vinyl prints to now making intricate pieces overseas like varsity jackets.
I started the brand three years and nine months ago in June 2019. I’ve had support online from all over the world Canada to Germany. The Youngest In Charge really started to grow when we started attending pop-up shops and getting our brand out there. The Youngest In Charge (TYIC) is a Toronto-based movement created by the young entrepreneur Aleah Trends. Our mission is to inspire young people to follow their dreams and become the best version of themselves. We aim to promote positivity and motivate young people to be go-getters and ambitious leaders through our clothing and content. In the future, TYIC will open community centres and safe spaces where young creatives can be creative.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road as we have had to learn to have patience and not expect a million dollars overnight like the Instagram gurus tell you. We overcome this struggle but enjoying the journey and creating content to show people our journey. Another struggle is finding a balance between being a creative vs a business individual. I am a creative, I make all the designs and photography but I have to find a balance by learning how to run a business and understand marketing and accounting. Another struggle is finding new creative ways to market a clothing brand and stand out in the market but we do that by creating unique pieces you cannot find anywhere else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What sets us apart from others is that we are a positive clothing brand that spreads positive messages for the youth. We have a CEO youth hoodie that features the words “CEO’ “young boss” ‘present” “leader”. We are most proud of brand wise that when people wear our clothes they are motivated to chase their dreams. We want your readers to know that when you wear TYIC you become a part of the youngest-in-charge movement. The youth are the future and leaders of tomorrow and we hope to guide the youth to be more positive leaders than we have had.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like the most about my city is that people are into fashion and are interested in supporting each other. The thing I like least about my city is we are slow to hope on new fashion trends.
