Meet Akono Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Akono Dixon.

Akono, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After graduating high school, I moved to New York City to work as an actor. First, I began auditioning and acting in student films and Off-Broadway shows, that soon progressed into television commercials, then to t.v shows and feature films. After working in the New York market for some time, Hollywood came calling and off I went to continue my journey here in Los Angeles, California.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be direct, its been a 50/50. There’s been times where I had no idea how I was going to continue living life as an actor, and there has also been times where I’ve experienced miracles happening right before my eyes. One struggle that I take pride in is when I traveled from Memphis TN to New York City on a Greyhound bus with $80 to my name and a dream of finally living up to be being, AKONO DIXON.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I work as an actor, above all my other metaphysical endeavors. If I have to say what I’m known for, I think my fellow colleagues (actors, producers, directors, casting directors, manager/agents, supporters) know me for my authenticity, my realness, and intensity, my power, and the love that I have for each character whom I bring to life. I’m proud of knowing myself and being true to that, every single day.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important qualities of my success would have to be: MOXY, RESILIENCE, and HONESTY, and lots and lots, and lots and lots… of MOXY!
