Meet Aisha Tritle of Omnidya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Tritle.

Aisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I currently work as the Content Manager for Omnidya – while also being a novelist and playwright. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing, but I didn’t expect to end up doing what I do right now. My one goal growing up was to be an actress, the first backup plan was supposed to be music.

And the second backup was supposed to be business development in the field of health information technology. It’s been quite a wild ride so far. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent the summers between Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Samukawa, Japan. My dad came from a musical farming family and met my Japanese mother in a musical troupe, Up With People, so music and the performing arts, in general, were heavily infused into my childhood.

Classical piano and ballet were my main focuses, aside from academics, until high school. Homeschooling enabled me to start taking college classes when I was fourteen and also gave me the flexibility to begin to come out to Los Angeles for acting lessons and auditions. When I was eighteen, I moved out here to really take acting seriously.

I think many discover the road to their dreams is longer than initially expected, however, so I began writing creatively and doing content internships with tech startups to fill my time. Both of those pursuits unexpectedly became passions. About a year and a half after I started on that path, I had three works published, a play performed in the U.K., and held the position of Head of Marketing at a mobile app company.

Now, in addition to working with Omnidya, I have a sci-fi novel coming out next year with Kyanite Publishing. Both the book and a lot of the content I write for Omnidya deal with a topic I find absolutely fascinating – artificial intelligence.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I thought the entertainment industry was rife with drama, but the drama of startups can certainly rival it.

After a short film, I produced fell apart when a crew member threatened to kill an actor, I worked with a startup that suffered a fiery demise due to poor management and a political crisis in another country.

I also left the publisher of my first novel for reasons I won’t disclose here. That being said, I’m definitely wiser for having been through drama. I like to look at it as a baptism of fire in preparation for great things ahead.

Omnidya – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Omnidya leverages artificial intelligence to provide consumers with the best (cost-effective, etc.) home insurance quotes in under a minute. The way we do that is by generating a bot version of each consumer to shop in their place – so the whole search process is automated, which ends up saving time for consumers.

We’ve already done a beta in California and are going to launch nationwide very soon. We’re led by a fantastic executive team and are gearing up for a very, very busy year ahead!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
At the end of the day, relationships are what truly matter, but my personal definition of success would be the following combination:
-A multi-faceted career filled with consistent achievements.
-A personal life filled with positive relationships.

The freedom to take a week off whenever I like to retreat to the country, so I can go fishing or eat casserole or listen to country music or do whatever else I want to in peace.

As far as looking for markers of success in others, all I look for is balanced fulfillment. If someone seems happy in both their career and relationships, I would say they’ve achieved success.
