Meet Adena Rohatiner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adena Rohatiner.

Adena, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young girl, I always had a strong opinion about my wardrobe. I made my mother crazy by insisting on wearing only party dresses, even to the playground. My love for fashion continued throughout high school. My aunt, Rachel Zalis, who worked in fashion, gave me the best advice. Intern as much as possible. Luckily, she introduced me to some of the best stylists in the industry, including Rachel Zoe., Estee Stanley and Christina Ehrlich. After working for them, I realized that styling is what I wanted to do. After assisting them for a few years, I worked at Extra, styling Maria Menounos for her daily looks on the show and her red carpet appearances. After working at Extra, I went off on my own, styling celebrities and doing personal shopping.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
First of all, people should know it’s a very tough industry and you have to work your butt off to succeed. People see the glitz and the glamour but they don’t realize how much hard work is involved. I’m constantly shlepping, returning and hustling. However, the rewards are Incredible. When I see one of my celebrity clients looking stunning on the red carpet, I’m beyond excited. I also receive tremendous pleasure from my personal shopping, styling “regular people” and seeing how good they look and feel in their new wardrobe.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I style celebrities for red carpet appearances and editorials. I also help clients update their wardrobes by cleaning out their closets and choosing the right pieces to elevate their wardrobe. My motto is “less is more.” I like clean, modern, chic looks with a little edge to distinguish the outfit. Anine Bing, Kate Moss and Olivia Polmero are a few of my inspos. I believe that good basics are essential.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of course, I credit my aunt Rachel, who got me started and connected me with all the right people. And Estee Stanley and Christiana Ehrlich, who were amazing mentors. My mom, who helps me with the kids when I have late night shoots and fittings. And my husband, Jordan, who has encouraged me to follow my dreams. And Grace Byers and Mayim Bialik, who have been with me from the start.
