Today we’d like to introduce you to Aden Eyob.
Aden, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am the clinical neuroscientist and author of The Book on Mind Training: The Secret for Positive Living. I am also the founder of Mind Medication, a mindset consultancy that can supercharge your executive team. I enable teams, groups, and individuals with the strategic alignment of mindset, communication, and goals to accelerate business growth.
Before founding Mind Medication, I worked for over ten years in the corporate and academia world, mainly in the healthcare sector for Fortune 500 companies. However, visions of my six-year-old self would remind me of my desire to be an entrepreneur. It took a breakdown and divine intervention for me to shift from my comfortable lifestyle into the unknowns. And so, in 2018, I took the bold step to start my venture in the UK, where I was based. I didn’t have a business background or startup funds. I was, however, filled with an arsenal of faith, curiosity, and vision. Fortunately, I was living in The Collective UK, a co-working and living space, and so made the transition from employee to entrepreneur easier as I had access to a community of entrepreneurs, creatives, and resources, such as skill exchange that I used to set-up the foundations of the business.
A year and a half into starting Mind Medication, while still working a full-time job and training to become a Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner (NLP), I had another vision to relocate to the US, my other home. It was risky to relocate, given the infancy of my venture, but I knew that employing a growth mindset would help me overcome the obstacles. Little did I know that the pandemic would hit within a few months of relocating to the US. It was challenging, but I chose to focus on supporting my clients and community to leverage the pandemic as an opportunity to practice resiliency and take the time necessary to reflect and connect the dots to unlock new levels of growth.
Now, Mind Medication operates in the USA and UK, with plans to become an entirely digital-based business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
An entrepreneur’s journey is hardly smooth, like a rollercoaster with highs and lows, but it flows in the end. Business took a hit during the pandemic, and with minimal sales growth, I had the option to close my business or reinvent it. After deep reflection, pros and cons analysis, and speaking with my inner circle of friends, mentors, and advisors, I chose to reinvent. Changing my business plan from a B2C to a B2B model gave me the scope to consult businesses’ on my array of expertise, from mindset to my healthcare insights from my decade working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
One thing that kept me going through the rough patch was my faith in the Universe. Another was my life motto that a winner never quits and quitters never win. I would recite this in my financial journal every morning while looking at myself in the mirror to remind myself of what I am made of and will overcome.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mind Medication. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
