Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Pedicini.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a kid, I struggled with my identity and trying to understand my family dynamics. Suffering from Dyslexia and ADD, I wasn’t suited to the school environment. Thankfully I was gifted with athletic ability and growing up in Australia meant lots of sport and being outside. At 24, I had my first ever dance lesson and then proceeded to have a professional dance career for over ten years.
Now, as a stay at home father I’ve continued my love of fitness, movement and enjoy helping people realize their potential. I love the outdoors so a lot of what I teach and pass on to my clients is based around being outside, learning how we can move our bodies that allow optimal performance. I view my sessions and workshops because it’s my hope each client will take the learning, continue to develop and take ownership of their own movement journey.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With learning difficulties being at home learning anatomy and fitness principles never sat well. I become a trainer over 20 years ago because I was a good communicator and liked to helping people. Over the years, I’ve had to learn different training methods and theories. To help this process, I like to watch videos, draw pictures and use a whiteboard to draw a mental map.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a movement specialist that helps people discover the best way to move their body so strength, joint function and cardio fitness can be optimized. All my sessions a different, with a strength program tracking weights the rest of the sessions are adaptive, free-flowing and never boring!
I have an extensive outdoor adventure background so lots of my clients that come to me want to train for a travel goal. Climbing a mountain, doing a multi-day wilderness walk, learning how to rock climb or white water kayaking. We sit down, create an adventure and then I plan a path that allows the person to have something to work towards, learn new skills and be rewarded with an adventure at the end.
Above all, I like my session to be enjoyable. I want my clients to leave each session knowing they worked out but that they had fun. Smiling is such a contagious reaction you’ll be sure to be greeted with one each session.
What were you like growing up?
Mischief! I was running around, riding my bike, climbing trees and trying to get as dirty as I could – my mum’s only rule was I had to do my own washing!! The first house I grew up in backed onto a school and my parents built my a cubby house that was high enough to look over the fence into the school. It provided hours of entertainment and meant I always had friends over playing in the cub’s house. I’ve always had a carefree nature and I’ve been told I have a very infectious laugh! One of my true loves is white water kayaking and I was first in a kayak when I was two. Since then, I’ve paddled all over the world and now looking to get my wife and daughter into it.
