Meet Adam Foltin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Foltin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started at Summit School in New York with Gary the music instructor there, who helped me write my first song, titled “The Highway”. Around age 13, I began bass lessons with Steve Dawson, who helped me develop my songs & many years later, brought them to life. He currently recorded & produced five songs at his Los Angeles studio, for an upcoming 2020 EP, though these five songs are now available on Bandcamp. But back in 2014, I did form a band called Anomie with local friends Carsten, Ian & Henry, but that led me to more of a focus on playwriting. I was a natural at playing bass, which I have my very supportive & encouraging parents Jessica & George Foltin to thank! But I currently focus on my playwriting.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One personal struggle was getting the opportunity to have a Long Island – based record label come see us play but the band (Anomie) was not ready & the label ultimately passed on us. It added some depression, which led to confusion about moving forward, eventually breaking up the band. But always stay positive, happy and NEVER think it’ll be over. Some people feel they NEED to believe it’s over but I believe it’s important to know that it’s never over.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
My business is playwriting & songwriting. That’s what I specialize in. And some stand-out proud moments for me have been pulling off some off my bass parts really well during live performances I believe in being creative with writing & in making something beautiful & awesome. I love to play music & always write to excite people. I believe all songs should have a powerful effect on the listener. My song “Time Machine” is very powerful. It’s intense, abrupt ending is very powerful. I also am a very spiritual person & what sets me apart from others is my belief in a pantheon of Gods called the Elohim & the mystery religion. I believe I am the incarnation of God & see myself as much different than other people. Others see me as someone special.
