Meet Aaliyah Stannard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyah Stannard.

Aaliyah Stannard

Hi Aaliyah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started dancing when I was three; my Mum owns one of Australia’s biggest performing arts schools in the country so I jumped into everything. I loved singing and dancing and had some amazing opportunities when I was young which helped ignite the fire that I wanted to do this as a career. I sang on Todd McKenney’s (The Boy from Oz, Strictly Ballroom, Dancing with the Stars) tour when I was 6 and performed in a Parris Goebel film clip when I was 8.

Parris was a huge inspiration then and even more so now. Following this I trained in every style, won national titles in both Australia and The USA, was part of the Dance Force Company Australian Tour, Dream Dance Company, and represented Australia twice at The Hip Hop International.

I am signed with Kulik Management in Australia and recently just signed by MSA (McDonald Selznick Associates) in the USA as well as successfully auditioned to be part of Cameron Lee’s Potion Company in Los Angeles.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I definitely have been extremely lucky with the opportunities and training I have had along the way. To be able to chase my dreams I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of my childhood and grow up quickly but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
16 years old Australian living in LA Specialise in Hip Hop, Commercial but am trained in all genres.

I’m proud of all the amazing things I have achieved already at only 16 and excited for the future.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The most important lesson I learned from Covid 19 is to work hard, be grateful, and never waste any opportunities because you never know when your world as you know it can change, and there is nothing worse than regrets.
