Meet the 505 Salon in Hermosa Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to the 505 Salon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I started my hairdressing career in Sweden and continued it in London, England. I eventually settled in Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach. I have always been the creative type and love what I do, still after 20 years of hairdressing. Los Angeles provides so much inspiration, it’s a never-ending source of influence. I (Kaci) met Therese about seven years ago, but we didn’t connect directly.

I worked in Manhattan Beach at the same Salon for many years. I would say I have a natural talent for the craft and love to make my clients feel and look beautiful. We had all of our starts align beginning of last year, and we decided to open a Salon together in Hermosa. It’s now been exactly one year since we opened our doors and it has been a dream come true. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such a talented and hard-working team. We as a group are what makes this Salon the success that it is today.

Our clients have been what is the driving force and our inspiration. We feel so lucky to be working for such an amazing group of people, they are the main reason we do what we do. It’s never a dull moment and always a joy. We share a lot of laughs and making beautiful hair all at the same time. Hopefully, we will be doing this for years to come.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always ups and downs when opening a new business, but I would say we have had more blessings then we can count. I do remember when we started building the Salon, we were still working our regular day jobs in other places, driving back and forth to check on the progress.

There had been plumbing done this day, and someone had turned the water back on with our permission, and the whole Salon was completely flooded and was covered in debree and water. I thought everything had been destroyed. But thankfully our amazing Plummer’s cleaned it up in one day, and it was like nothing ever happened.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 505 Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
We take great pride in being innovative and always up to date on the latest techniques, such as Baliage, ombré and hair extensions. I (Therese) specialize in hair extensions and use only the best brands such as Great Lengths. Clients will fly from far and away to come and see me for their extensions. I (Kaci) would say my strong point is color.

I personalize every client’s color to look flawless and beautiful, but with a touch of personality. As a whole, the Salon is modern, upbeat and our happy place. I’m so proud of the work that comes from all of us here at 505Salon. I am always loving what I see left out of here, and that’s a great achievement.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I (Therese) count my lucky stars every day that I ended up here in the South Bay and that I’m surrounded by so many talented and good-hearted people. I think Laci can agree with that too. But most of all I think we are lucky to have our families, we are both married to amazing men, and we both have two beautiful children each, what more could we ask for in life?

We are also blessed to have each other, that’s where the real luck comes from. We didn’t really know each other super well, but we both believed in the other person. We went on energy and a gut feeling when we both decided to open 505 Salon together. And we never looked back since.
