Today we’d like to introduce you to 2 Hungry.
2 Hungry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Honestly, “2 Hungry World” was a name I made for my clothing line. I was 15 when I started this handmade bleached dyed clothing business to raise funds for my studio set up. Overtime it has evolved to a much bigger brand than just clothing. It’s pretty much exactly what the name says, it’s my world. We started small in our community just getting our name out.
So what I did was give away free shirts to the people that stood out in the community & used them as brand ambassadors. That way when they wore aka modeled my clothing I got free promo through the word of mouth interaction or on social media when they posted in it & they got free merchandise while being apart of a growing brand. We promote love, peace, & equality like back in 2016 but now we are a bit more rebel like in standing for freedom of expression.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So just getting the name out had to be the most difficult phase because we were strictly focused on bleached & tie-dye style clothing at the time. Once we had a few people in the community rocking their free shirts & we started to get noticed by more & more folks it started to seem like a lot of people we knew started doing the same thing. For a while, the competition threw us off. I love the creating process passionately & each shirt was like a painting for me. Some people just seen it as a way to make money, which kinda hurt a little lol. We were tripping for a bit, our influencers worried about it, & even some of our customers would bring it up. Through our experience, we just had to realize that our only competition is ourselves & we strive to grow better than our past selves. Through doing that, we’ve always had success no matter what & most of those people gave up after a while so it played out perfectly.
2Hungry World – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Yea, my brand is a bit different it’s basically like the name says 2Hungry’s world and I am an entertainer, music artist, & designer. I’m not really too sure on how to describe it. For example if you think about “Kylie Jenner”, “Travis Scott” “Drake” or “Chance the Rapper” they all have brands that sell products but their brands are ultimately themselves. While they have things to represent their brand like “OVO” or the owl, the “3”, the cactus, well mine would be the number ”2” & the 2Hungry Monster. As I kid, I didn’t know how I would structure my brand but staying committed to the journey while constantly learning, I’ve figured things out along the way. Me & the #2HungryGang aka my supporters & followers try to introduce love, peace, & equality with freedom of expression to others through our art, personal interactions, & being open with our stories.
Our brand designs and sells products like streetwear, redesigned pieces, bleach tie-dye pieces, & giveaway merch that promotes “2 Hungry”. While every now and then, we contribute funds to non-profits & other causes. Hopefully, we can inspire others and 1 by 1 change the perception of the world. Even though we’re still very new today, we have some of the best partnerships with so many amazing brands, artists, creators, organizations, & companies on our side.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me personally, my success is determined by how many people I’m connecting with on a deeper level. Whether it’s with the guy experiencing homelessness on my block or a CEO of a major record label. I honestly don’t look for anything except authenticity & integrity. Creativity is always awesome but in general, I can work better with people that are true to their selves.
