Today we’d like to introduce you to Yizhuo Liu.
Hi Yizhuo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Yizhuo, originally from China, and I’m deeply passionate about art design and photography. My inspiration often stems from conversations with diverse individuals and viewing the world through various perspectives. Embracing creativity, I seek to remain energized each day. My aspiration is to stand out, possessing unique thoughts and distinctive characteristics that set me apart from others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been seamless, marked by significant improvement, particularly in the diversification of my work. The most challenging aspect was transitioning from being solely a graphic designer to evolving into a product designer with a focus on product thinking. Now, my efforts extend beyond the visual realm as I delve into a more comprehensive understanding of design.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After graduating from college, I made the decision to advance my career by enrolling in the Master’s program at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Currently, my focus lies in interaction design for the mobile app NewsBreak, as I contribute to the development of an AI-powered local everything platform in the United States. In my role as a senior product designer, I am actively involved in creating a comprehensive visual ecosystem that caters to the diverse needs of local users through a strategic product matrix approach.
Prior to this, my professional journey included working at Johnson & Johnson MedTech, where I engaged in user interface design, prototyping, usability testing, and design system management for robotic surgical systems. Drawing from my extensive experience, I bring four years of expertise as a UX visual designer from my tenure at Lucid Motors. There, I worked on projects ranging from in-car UI and navigation apps to media apps and ADAS auto park functionality.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Along my career journey, I encountered a few exceptional managers who actively listened and understood my aspirations. A lead designer invested a significant amount of time in one-on-one sessions, mentoring me through the intricacies of the UI delivery process. This guidance proved invaluable, especially given my limited prior professional experience in this domain.
