Yessenia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing hair over 11 years ago, specializing in Afghan weddings. To be honest, it was a challenging start! the hairstyles were intricate and voluminous. Working with different hair textures and high expectations pushed me to grow quickly in skill and creativity.
Over time, I built a loyal clientele and developed a reputation for consistency, professionalism, and personalized service. Every stage of my journey from working in salons to eventually managing my own space has shaped me into the stylist I am today. It hasn’t always been easy, but the challenges have pushed me to grow and refine both my skills and my vision.
Today, I’m proud not only to continue doing what I love, but also to share my knowledge and mentor others entering the industry. My story is still unfolding, and I’m excited for the continued growth and opportunities ahead.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, building a clientele and managing long hours was tough especially while balancing motherhood. But every challenge helped me grow and pushed me to keep going.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I studied at Paul Mitchell and became a licensed cosmetologist, doing everything from hair color to haircuts. After closing my salon, I decided to focus solely on hairstyling.
I now specialize in clean, elegant styles and Hollywood waves, especially for brides and big hairstyles for Quinceañeras.
I’m known for creating long-lasting, voluminous looks, for my precision, attention to detail, and also the quality of my work.
How do you define success?
To me, success means doing what I love while making others feel confident and beautiful. It’s not just about growth or recognition, it’s about staying true to my passion, constantly improving, and creating a positive impact on those I work with.
